Beatrice Abair

Vergennes - Beatrice Shirley Abair, 87, of Waltham, passed away on June 7, 2011 in the Addison Respite Care Home at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury, VT.

   She was born in Vergennes, the daughter of John and Samantha LeBeau, and was one of nine children. She attended school in Vergennes, and married Albert Abair on June 2, 1941. The couple just celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary.

   Bea worked at Van Raalte in Middlebury, and spent several years caring for and loving her grandchildren, Bob, Tom, Audrey, Roger and Kevin. Her greatest passion was as a homemaker. She enjoyed baking, cooking and keeping a spotless home. She and her husband enjoyed years on the road with their camper and met many life-long friends. She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 14 in Vergennes, and a member of the St. Ann Society at St. Peter’s.

   She is survived by her husband, Albert, and two daughters and their husbands, Marguerite and John Quinn and Beverly and Roger Norton; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great, great grand-daughter; one sister, Jean Briggs, and several nieces and nephews.

   The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and caregivers of Addison Respite Care Home and the Hospice volunteers. Thanks, also, to the team from Addison County Home Health over the past year, and Dr. Lynn Larson.

   There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on June 10 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery. Stephen Gregory Cremation Services of Shelburne are in charge of arrangements.

   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Addison Respite Care Home, P.O. Box 953, Middlebury, VT or Addison County Home Health & Hospice Volunteer Services.

Robert Richard Hall

 

RUTLAND - Robert Richard Hall, Sr., age 75, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at his home in Rutland. Mr. Hall was born in Brandon on January 13, 1936. He was the son of Frances Hall. He received his early education in local Brandon schools. April 6, 1968 he married Lois Bradley at the Congregational Church in Brandon. They made their home in Rutland, where he has resided for the past 43 years.

    Mr. Hall has been employed at Midway Diner for the last 43 years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of The Moose in Rutland, where he was an avid horse shoe tournament player. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a good father and a hard worker. He had attended Grace Congregational Church.

    Surviving is his daughter Ruth Anne Hall & her fiancé Brian Hathaway, 2 sons Robert R. Hall, Jr., and Ronald L. Hall & his companion Marie McLaren all of Rutland, his companion Cora Potter of Brandon. 7 grandchildren; Brian D. K. Hathaway, Rose Hathaway, Christina Hathaway, Candice Hall, Jeffrey Doaner, Ronald Hall, Jr., and Abigail Hall, 3 great grandchildren; Jonathan Hathaway, Abbiana Savage and Tristan Cameron, 4 step grandchildren; Kayla Bissitte, Christina Bissitte, Harland McLaren, Jr., and Kerrianna McLaren. He was predeceased by his wife Lois in 1999, a sister Esther Hallock, 2 grandsons; Brian Hathaway, Jr., and Jonathan Hall and his step father Henry Hall.

    The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011, at 12 Noon, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church will officiate. The graveside committal service and burial will follow in the family lot, at Pine Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 11 AM until service time at 12 Noon. Gwendolyn Marie Knapp

 

BRANDON - Gwendolyn Marie Knapp, age 82, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

    Ms: Knapp was born in Brandon on December 9, 1928. She was the daughter of Ernest and Blanche (Reed) Knapp. She was graduated from Brandon High School, class of 1948. She had resided in Boston and later Arlington, MA. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Quneo Press of New England in Cambridge, MA from 1953 until returning to Brandon in 1974, to care for her aging parents. She worked, as a bookkeeper, for Shapiro’s Department Store in Brandon from 1975 until retiring in 2000. She had served as the Treasurer for The Brandon Cemetery Association for many years. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Brandon and had belonged to the Altar Guild.

    Surviving is her brother Murray Knapp of Brandon. Many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive her. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a sister Myra Lemnah.

    The funeral service was held on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 9 AM, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Brandon. The Rev. Margo Fletcher, Rector officiated.

    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; The Brandon Cemetery Association, Perpetual Care Fund, 26 Franklin Street, Brandon, VT 05733.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home.

Eric Neal Johnson

PALM BAY, FLORIDA - The graveside committal service and burial for Eric Neal Johnson, age 52, who died January 6, 2011 were held on Saturday, June 11, in Forestdale Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
