Kathryn Virginia Gale

MIDDLEBURY - Kathryn Virginia Gale, age 89, died April 18, 2011, at her home in Deltona, FL.

    Ms: Gale was born in Whiting on November 2, 1921. She was the daughter of Perley and Mary (Forrest) Scarborough; Sr. She received her early education in local Whiting Schools. In her earlier years she had worked as a seamstress at Van Raalte in Middlebury. She later became a waitress at several various area restaurants. She most enjoyed her years at the Basin Harbor Club, where she served as the Maître d, for many years. She moved to Burlington in 1988 and employment as a food demonstrator at Costco’s. She retired to Deltona, FL in 1992, but continued working for Publix Grocery as a food demonstrator. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family and friends.

    Surviving is her daughter Bonnie Gale of Bennington, 2 sons Peter Gale & his wife Linda of Middlebury and Raymond Gale & his wife Rose of Salisbury, her sister Mabel Rocque of Schenectady, NY, 2 brothers Kenneth “Bucky” Scarborough & his wife Audrey of Leicester and Leonard Scarborough of Swanzey, NH, 4 grandchildren Brent Gale & his companion Karen and Jody Gale & companion Stephanie all of Hubbardton, Mark Gale & his wife Gena of Salisbury and Kimberley Berthiaume & her husband Sam of Middlebury. 6 great grandchildren; Taelor, Josh, Colby, Hunter, Avery and Bella also survive her, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother Perley Scarborough, Jr., and 3 sisters Mildred Kah, Hazel Bogart and Margaret Gale.

    The graveside committal service and burial will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 12 Noon, at the family lot in Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon. The Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church will officiate.

    Following the ceremony the family will receive friends, at Middlebury American Legion Post #27, for a time of fellowship & remembrance.

    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; The Addison County Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Gordon Spooner

 

Gordon Spooner, 47, died March 7, 2011.  A funeral service will be held May 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bridport Masonic Lodge in Bridport. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel Wright.

Mabel Betsy Clark Benoit

 

Mabel Betsy Clark Benoit, age 85, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Porter Hospital in Middlebury.

   Mrs. Benoit was born in Fairfax on June 27, 1925. She was the daughter of Herbert and Betsy (Powers) Webb. She received her education in local Fairfax schools and was graduated from B.F.A. Fairfax High School class of 1943. In her earlier years she had worked as a seamstress. Following her move to Brandon in 1974 she worked as a chambermaid at the Brandon Inn for several years. She was a member of the Brandon American Legion Unit #55 Ladies Auxiliary. She also belonged to Middlebury V.F.W. Unit #7823 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, camping and her gardening and canning.

   Surviving is her husband Fernand “Frenchy” Benoit of Brandon; whom she married in Forestdale on December 31, 1978, one daughter Cheryl Brutkoski & her husband Joseph of Brandon, a son David A. Clark of Franklin, 2 step-daughters Linda King of Cornwall, Ginger Gould of Forestdale and 2 step-sons Fernand Benoit, Jr., of Leicester and Bernard Benoit of Chittenden, 2 brothers Arthur Webb of Fairfax and George Kemp of Highgate, 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive her, as well special extended family; Marshall & Jane Hier of Pittsford. She was predeceased by her first husband Clifford Clark, 3 sons Donald Clark, John Clark and Carroll Clark and her sister Phyllis Maxfield, a brother Herbert Webb and a grandson William Clark.
