Robert John Zazzalie

Addison - Robert John Zazzali, 78, died at his home on April 28, 2011 after a long illness.  He was born on October 16, 1932 in Prospect Park, New Jersey, and attended school in Fairlawn, NJ.

    He served honorably in the Armed Forces, and married Barbara E. Benson on May 19, 1956.  He raised his family in Ridgewood, NJ and worked for NJ Bell Telephone Company for 33 years before moving to West Addison to enjoy his retirement in 1987.  In recent years he could often be found making coffee and enjoying time with good friends at the West Addison General Store.

    He is survived by his wife, Barbara E. (Benson) Zazzali of West Addison, daughters Donna Zazzali of Vergennes and Diane DeBella of Superior, Colorado, sister Ann Jensen of Columbia, South Carolina, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Stehmeyer, in 2010.

Mary Ella Russell

MIDDLEBURY - Mary Ella Russell, age 94, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at her home in Middlebury.

    Mrs. Russell was born in Medford, MA on October 2, 1916. She was the daughter of Jesse and Ella (Leach) Turner. She earned her degree in Childhood Education from Lesley College. She taught for several years until her marriage to Allan Russell. She was a stay at home mom and returned to teaching when her children were grown. She and her husband made their home in Medford, MA. Mr. Russell died in 1985. She has been a resident of Middlebury since 2003 moving here to make her home with her daughter. She loved animals especially; Susie, Chief, Maya, Jude and Erin who always kept a close eye on her. She enjoyed attending Project Independence.

    Surviving are 2 daughters Elaine Bodurtha of Middlebury and Alice Berglund of Lynnfield, MA, 1 son Donald Russell and his wife Amy of Salem, NH. Grandchildren; Angela Scavo of Middlebury, Robin Scavo of Seattle, WA, Michelle Sever & husband Jeremy of Olympia, WA, Elise Weaver & husband Chuck of Lynnfield, MA, Joan Berglund & husband Rick Paige of Centerville, MA, Jason Russell and Lindsay Russell both of Salem, NH, great grandchildren, Logan Paige, Zachary Weaver, Luke Weaver, Dawson Sever and Shelbie Sever. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. She will be greatly missed by a host of friends both in Middlebury and Medford.

   A memorial service took place at  Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon on Saturday, May 7, 2011
The graveside committal service and burial will take place on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford, MA.

    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; Addison County Humane Society, 234 Boardman, Middlebury, VT 05753 or Project Independence, P.O. Box 581, Middlebury, VT or to Addison County Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

James Raymond Parker

BRANDON-James Raymond Parker, age 66, died Friday, April 29, 2011, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

    Mr. Parker was born in Brandon on July 30, 1944. He was the son of Bernard and Genevieve (Hayes) Parker. He received his early education in local Brandon schools. He was a graduate of Otter Valley Union High School, class of 1963. Following graduation he joined the Vermont Army National Guard. He received his honorable discharge in September 1968. In his earlier years he had driven truck for Wilson Trucking. He later worked as a machine operator at Simmons Precisions in Vergennes. He had worked for Polymers Plastics in East Middlebury for several years before joining the staff at General Electric in Rutland, as a machine operator. He retired in 2006 as a truck driver for Goddard’s Transportation. He enjoyed building Radio Controlled Aircraft and NASCAR. He was a Civil War Buff, and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon.

    Surviving is his wife Jean (Godette) Parker of Brandon; whom he married in Proctor on September 3, 1966, 2 sons Kelly J. Parker & his wife Betsey of Dover, NH and Kerry N. Parker of Brandon, a sister Cheryl Gordon of Brandon, 3 brothers Donald F. Parker of Topeka, KS, Kenneth J. Parker of Catonsville, MD and Michael C. Parker of West Rutland. 4 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by 3 brothers David S. Parker, Ronald “Curley” Parker and B. Robert Parker and a sister Joan Gordon.

    A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon. The Reverend Albert “Skip” Baltz, pastor was the celebrant. The graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, will followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Brandon.

   Following the ceremony the family will receive friends back in the church parish hall, for a time of fellowship & remembrance.

 Fr. Skip will deliver a Vigil Service at 8:45 PM.At Miller and Ketcham Funeral Home.
