Local Students Earn Honors at Skidmore College

   The following local students earned honors for the fall semester at Skidmore College:

Sarah Keeney, Class of 2011. She is the daughter of Jeffrey and Lisa Keeney of Starksboro.

Jesse Watson, Class of 2011. He is the son of Linda Watson of Bristol.

Timothy Lueders-Dumont, Class of 2012. He is the son of Jim Dumont and Karen Lueders of Lincoln.

Sonia Hare, Class of 2013. She is the daughter of Steve and Shelly Hare of Middlebury.

   Highest honors are awarded for a quality point ratio of 3.670 or more from a possible 4.0. Honors are awarded for a grade point ratio of 3.4 to 3.669.

   Skidmore recognizes academic excellence in several ways. In addition to making the Dean's list (for achieving highest honors or honors), a student may be elected to the Periclean Honor Society, Skidmore's own academic honor society, or to the Skidmore chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.

  Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college that enrolls approximately 2,400 students. The college grants both the bachelor of arts and the bachelor of science degree, as well as a master's degree in liberal studies.

Local Students Named To St. Lawrence University Dean's List

   The following students have been selected for inclusion on the Dean's List for academic achievement during the fall 2010 semester at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. To be eligible for the Dean's List at St. Lawrence University, a student must have completed at least four semester units and have an academic average of 3.6 (based on a perfect 4.0 scale) for the semester.

 Austin J. Dempewolff, of Middlebury, a senior; Dempewolff graduated from Middlebury Union High School in Middlebury. He is majoring in Global Studies with a minor in Economics.

 Kayla M. James, of Bristol, a senior; James graduated from Mount Abraham Union High School in Bristol. She is majoring in Psychology.

  Johanna A. Kelley, of Shoreham, a sophmore; Kelley graduated from Middlebury Union High School in Middlebury.

  Michelle E. Laframboise, of New Haven, a senior; Laframboise graduated from Mount Abraham Union High School in Bristol. She is majoring in International Economics - Spanish with a minor in Caribbean Latin Am Stud.

  Maria K. Santiago, of Middlebury, a senior; Santiago graduated from Middlebury Union High School in Middlebury. She is majoring in Fine Arts with a minor in Spanish.

  Cooper J. Thompson, of New Haven, a sophmore; Thompson graduated from Mount Abraham Union High School in Bristol.

   St. Lawrence, the oldest continuously degree-granting coeducational college in New York State, is a residential, liberal arts institution of about 2,000 students.
