Vergennes Masonic Association ( Dorchester Lodge I) & Vergennes Boys and Girls Club are a strong community partnership that go back several years. After the Masonic Organization purchased the Oddfellows building approximately six years ago, the organization opened its doors to be the site for the younger children involved in the many programs of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Vergennes. Sight director Deb Hall appreciates not only the reduced rate of rent that the club receives, but was so excited to receive the Masonic Organization’s latest donation of toys, games, paper, art supplies and other program necessities for the young people who daily come to play and learn at the Boys & Girls Club.

In addition to the assistance to the Boyd & Girls Club, the members of Dorchester Lodge I are active in the community sponsoring three age groups of children to attend summer Conservation Camp as well as scholarships for VUHS High School seniors at graduation. Other organizations to benefit from the efforts of the Masonic Organization include the Bixby Library and the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. Seen here are Dorchester Lodge Members Wilbur “Billy” Devoid, Barry Tracey and Vergennes Boys & Girls Club sight director Deb Hall accepting the latest donations to help the community. People with questions about the Summer Conservation Camp programs are encouraged to contact Masonic Association secretary Howard “ Buster “ Grant. The Valley Voice salutes all of the members of Dorchester Lodge I and thanks them for all their years of continual and enduring support of the people, programs and unique heritage of this region we all call home.
