The Ferrisburgh Historical Society features Silas Towler as speaker at its meeting on Wednesday, January 12, at 7:00 PM at the Ferrisburgh Town Hall/Community Center.  The Grange Hall on Route 7 was destroyed in a 2005 fire.  The restored building now houses the town offices and a large space for community meetings, events, performances and parties.

Towler and others sifted through the wreckage rescuing surviving architectural elements such as window sashes, tin walls, antique doors and soffit brackets from the roof line.  The artifacts became clues pointing the way to the design of the new building.

The new building is a near replica of the 1868 Grange building destroyed in the 2005 fire.  The building was built with donations, grants and town funds and is a tribute to the individuals who worked in its reconstruction. Its presence is a visual reminder to those who travel Route 7 of the 1868 Grange Hall and to all who use it. Come hear the fascinating story of its rebirth.  All are welcome.
