Genevieve James Mayer

Middlebury - Genevieve Mayer, 79, passed away peacefully after a long illness at the home of her caregivers, Kathy and George Forand in Bristol, VT.

    She was born September 10, 1931 in Middlebury, the daughter of Raymond and Dolphine (Neff) James.

    She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Middlebury and graduated from Middlebury High School, Class of 1950.  

    In June of 1950 she married Paul E. Mayer in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury.

    She was employed in various positions over the years, including the Western Union office in Middlebury, Simmonds Precision Products in Vergennes, and Middlebury Savings & Loan.  She also was the Data Entry Clerk for the Sunderland Language Schools at Middlebury College, enrolling students in the eight languages for the summer programs and the schools abroad: she was employed there for eleven years until her retirement in 1994.

    After retirement she spent much time and had great pride working in her backyard flower gardens.  She was very talented in all areas of crafts, writing and handiwork.  She shared her talents, love, and laughter with family and friends.

    She is survived by her husband of 60 years Paul E. Mayer, her son Paul J. Mayer, daughter Paula Mayer and companion Phillip Williams (all of Middlebury),  her sister Beverly James Wilson of Oviedo, Florida.   Grandchildren:  Kami, Darci, Merina and Elesha. Great-grandsons:  Ryan, Nolan, Colby & Bryan.

    She was predeceased by her parents and her grandson, Brian Mayer.

    The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Forand Family for their devoted love and care and our thanks to her nurse, Ann.

    Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, with the Rev. Albert “Skip” Baltz officiating.  

    Spring burial will be at St. Genevieve’s Cemetery in Shoreham.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in her memory to the Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 504, Middlebury, VT 05753 or to the Addison County Home Health & Hospice, P.O. 754, Middlebury,  VT  05753.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home.

Rejean E. Morin

 

Middlebury - Rejean E. Morin 80, died Thursday morning December 23, 2010 at his residence after a brief illness.

    Born August 24, 1930 in Whiting, he was the son of the late Leo P. and Josephine (Denis) Morin.

    Rejean was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury. He was a kennelman and groomer for Middlebury Animal Hospital for over 30 years. Rejean enjoyed cross word puzzles, family outings and gatherings and community yard sales. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

    Rejean was a veteran having served with the Unites States Army in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion and Veteran’s of Foreign Wars.

    He is survived by his children, Oral Morin of Middlebury, David Morin of Middlebury, Jan Morin and his wife Sherry of Port Henry, NY, Joyce Dupoise and her husband Craig of Salisbury and Robert Morin and  his wife Heather of Salisbury; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Pauline Cloutier of Salisbury, Aline Lubinski of Colchester, Doris Racine of Las Vegas, Nev., and Yvette Blair of Essex and one brother, Robert Morin of VA.

    He was predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife Arlene A. Morin who died October 30, 2010, one daughter Kathy Houle, grandson Abraham Seeley, and a brother Marcel Morin.

    A celebration of his life will be held January 15, 2011 at 3 PM at the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, Exchange St., Middlebury.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. 05403.
