The Little City Launches A New Website

Tuesday December 21, 2010

By Cookie Steponaitis

People surfing the Internet looking for information on Addison County and the City of Vergennes are in for a treat. Mayor Mike Daniels announced this week the presence of a new updated and completely revamped website for Vermont’s oldest city at www.vergennes.org. The idea was the result of an email the mayor received from a local citizen, Jeff Margolis who was looking at the website and offered the suggestion that a new look was needed as well as his talent and time. He immediately began the transformation that was unveiled this week and is now available online.

“We set up a meeting between Jeff Margolis, City Manager Mel Hawley, City Clerk Joan Devine, Judi Daniels and myself to discuss the look and feel of a new website,” shared Vergennes Mayor Mike Daniels. “Jeff Margolis went to work very quickly putting our ideas into creation.  Judi Daniels has been the primary tester of the new website being in constant contact with Jeff on let’s change this, move this over here, change this color and etc. The new website www.vergennes.org  has a totally different flavor from the previous one.  We have photos providing the viewer with a virtual tour of the city if you will.  We have categories for Annual Events, Tourism, Businesses, Government, Departments each with ‘dual navigation’.  Our Newsletters are posted on the website as well.”

While browsing the new website locals may be astounded to learn some facts they didn’t know as well as having easy access to the different departments in the city and the local venues for specific festivals and celebrations. One thing is for certain, information, fun and beautiful photography await the curious. So whether you are looking for a Justice of the Peace, a walking tour of Main Street and the Vergennes Basin, or current newsletters and information on all city events, this new website is the place to look. With a click of the mouse and a little time, the Little City is more accessible than ever to those planning to visit or for those who call this area home.
