JEANNINE GILL

WHITING- Jeannine B. Gill, 75, died unexpectedly, Monday, November 29, 2010 at her home.

    Born in Cowansville, P.Q.Canada on November 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Raoul J. and Albertine M. (Lavoie) Brouillard.  

    Mrs. Gill was a resident of Whiting since 1967.  She was a homemaker. “Jean” loved flowers and gardening as one of her many hobbies.

    She attended St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church of Bridport and St. Mary’s Church of Middlebury.  

    Surviving family members include one son, Michael G. Gill and his wife Phyllis of Middlebury; three daughters, Elaine M. McCray and her husband Jerry of Forestdale, Kathleen L. Gill of Whiting, and Mary E. Gill-Warren and her husband Joseph of Whiting; three brothers, Rene J. Brouillard of Newton, MA, Gerard J. Brouillard of Bridport, and Albert J. Brouillard of Bridport; three sisters, Yvonne Munafo of Schenectady, NY, Suzanne J. Clark of Portland TN. and Marie F. Sanders of Bridport; six grandchildren including a very special granddaughter, Amber May Gill, five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

    She was predeceased by her husband Raymond G. Gill, brothers, Guy J. Brouillard, Roland J. Brouillard and a sister, Cecile Jenne and a grandson, Raymond Charles Holbrook.  

    The funeral service was conducted at the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 S. Main St., Middlebury, on Thursday December 2, 2010, with the Rev. William R. Beaudin, pastor, St. Mary’s Church, officiating.  Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery, West Cornwall.

Sarah Ann Candon

 

BRANDON, VT./NAPLES, FL. - Sarah Ann Candon died November 22, 2010 at Lakeside Pavilion Rehabilitation Center in Naples, Florida with family at her side.

    Born in Brandon, Vt., on January 10, 1938, she was the only child of Catherine O’Connor and John Candon.  She received her early education in the parochial schools of Brooklyn, NY; she attended Trinity College of Vermont and received her Bachelor degree from Mt. St. Vincent College in N.Y. She earned her Master’s degree at the University of Vermont and her doctoral degree from Teachers College, Columbia University.

    After graduation from college, her professional life included teaching chemistry and biology at Our Lady of Victory Academy in Dobbs Ferry, NY; appointment to Assistant Dean of Students at St. Michael’s College and later appointed to Dean of Students Services at Johnson State College.  She served at the Association of State Colleges and Universities and for the last three decades of her life was the Chief Financial Officer of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators in Washington, DC.  In 2007 she retired to her Naples, Florida home with its purple décor.

    She is survived by her very special cousins, Peggy and Suzie Mott of Naples, her aunts, Margaret Durham of Poultney and Sister Elizabeth Candon of Burlington, several Candon cousins and many loyal friends.

    A funeral liturgy was held at St. Mary’s Church in Brandon, Vt. on Saturday, December 4.The family requests no flowers and if you wish to make donations in Sally’s memory they may be made to National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, Dallas Martin Endowment at Suite 1100, 1101 kk

Kim Jacobs

 

Middlebury - Kim M. Jacobs, 43, died peacefully on November 29,2010 in the loving arms of her family after a long hard fought battle with diabetes and renal disease.  

    She was born in  Middlebury, VT on March 27, 1967, the only daughter of Abraham M. Jacobs and Ruth Clara (Forest) Jacobs.

    Kim received her early education at Mary Hogan Elementary in Middlebury and later attended Middlebury Union High School.  After high school, Kim worked as a manager at the Marquis Movie Theater in Middlebury along with her parents.  Kim also worked as a cook for a number of years at the Helen Porter Nursing Home as well as managing the deli at Maplefield’s of Middlebury before being forced to retire due to health reasons.

    Kim was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Post 7823  Veterans of Foreign Wars and Post 49 American Legion, both in Middlebury.  Kim enjoyed camping and traveling with her family.  She was an avid animal rights supporter and loving pet owner, having many dogs and cats over the years.  Kim cherished her family and friends most of all and the many family gatherings held each year.

    Kim was a loving and caring soul with a wry sense of humor and a deep commitment to her love for her family.  Her presence on earth will truly be missed.

    Survivors include her mother, Ruth Jacobs of Middlebury, a brother Randy Jacobs of Rock Springs, WY; a brother Richard Mueller and his wife Cindra of Athol, ID; her beloved companion and soul mate Michael Miller and her two dogs Dozer and Samson of Middlebury; a niece Leslie Jacobs and her husband Adam Fulghum and son Caleb, a nephew Shaun Jacobs and his wife Kristina of Littleton, CO, a nephew Derek Mueller and his companion Stephanie Sherman and son Gage of Athol, ID, a very special aunt Theresa Churchill and her husband Raymond of Middlebury, her uncle Sam Jacobs and his wife Ellen of Essex Junction, uncle Samuel Jacobs and his wife Barbara of Essex Junction, aunt Anna Wilson of South Burlington, special cousins Chris Cousino and his wife Patty of Vergennes and also William Wilson and his wife Tory of Williston and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

    Kim was pre-deceased by her father, Abraham Jacobs and a brother Michael Mueller both of Middlebury.
A memorial service  to celebrate Kim’s life was conducted  Friday, December 3, 2010  at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 S. Main St. Middlebury with Rev. William R. Beaudin, pastor, St. Mary’s Church officiating.

Genevieve Julia Grindlay

 

BRANDON - Genevieve Julia Grindlay, age 91, died Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

    Mrs. Grindlay was born in Jersey City, NJ. She was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Switek. She grew up in Millburn, NJ where she received her education in local schools. In 1940 she married John Robert Grindlay they made their home in Westfield, NJ. Mr. Grindlay died in 2001. Mrs. Grindlay moved to Vermont in 2007 from her retirement home in Myrtle Beach, SC. She enjoyed cooking and oil painting.

    Surviving is her son Jeffrey C. Grindlay of Brandon, with whom she had made her home. 2 grandchildren also survive her. In addition to her husband she was also predeceased by a son John Robert Grindlay, Jr, a brother Joseph Switek, Jr and 2 sisters Josephine Spencer and Helen Lawrence.

    A private funeral service will be held, at a later date.
Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; The Brandon Area Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 232, Brandon, VT 05733.

THEODORE J. KRAMPITZ

 

WILLISTON – Theodore J. Krampitz 90, died Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Birchwood Terrace Healthcare in Burlington.   

    He was born on May 19, 1920 in Vergennes, the son of James E. and Matilda (Nichols) Krampitz.  

    He served in WWII attached to the 489th Bombardment Squadron Division of the U.S. Air Force.  He had worked at the Addison Independent as an advertising manager.

    He was a member of the American Legion, Post 14 of Vergennes, V.F.W.  Post 6689, of Essex. Theodore was a former member of the Elks club in Rutland and also Union Lodge #2 F & A.M. of Middlebury. Among his many enjoyments, he and his wife enjoyed attending reunions of his Bombardment Squadron.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed going and watch local school sports in the Middlebury area. He enjoyed horseshoes and assembling model cars airplanes and boats.

    He is survived by his wife, Helen (Murdock) Krampitz and sons James Krampitz of Center Harbor, NH, Ronald Krampitz of Bristol and Robert Krampitz and his wife Lori of Monkton, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  

    He is predeceased by his brother, Fred Krampitz and his sister, Anna Krampitz.

    The funeral service was Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main Street, Middlebury.  Burial was at Middlebury Cemetery.
