Dorothy Ann Johnson

MIDDLEBURY - Dorothy Ann Johnson, age 93, died Monday, November 01, 2010, at Helen Porter Health & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

    Mrs. Johnson was born in Rotterdam, NY on July 29, 1917. She was the daughter of Herold and Amalia (Rissland) Gale. She was graduated from Schenectady (NY) High School. From 1934 until 1937 she was a professional dancer. She did ballet in the chorus line for the show openings for Abbott and Costello and later The Cyd Caesar Show. August 7, 1938 she married Ivan Johnson in Ludlow, VT. Her husband was in the cattle business. She traveled with him and lived in Deadwood, SD and later Silver City, NM. They returned to Vermont in 1989 and made their home in Orwell. She had also taught Ballet in Shoreham for a short time. She enjoyed cooking and her gardening.

    Surviving is 2 daughters Edith Ballard of Shoreham and Katherine LaFramboise of Madisonville, TN. 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren also survive her. In addition to her husband who predeceased her in 2001, she was also predeceased by her son-in-law T Ballard in 2005.

    The graveside committal service and burial will take place on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 11 AM, in the family lot, at Tinmouth Cemetery in Tinmouth. Gary Stanley, a family friend will officiate.

There are no public calling hours.

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to: A charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

 

Gerald Burton Wedge

LEICESTER - Gerald Burton Wedge, Jr, age 74, died Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

    Mr. Wedge was born in Stowe on July 30, 1936. He was the son of Gerald and Esther (Miller) Wedge, Sr. He grew up in Richmond and Addison where he received he received his early education in local schools. In his earlier years he had farmed. He later became a woodsman. He logged various area of the state with his team of horses. He had also driven truck for Richmond Farm Supplies for several years. He was driving van for the Middlebury Parent/Child Center when he was forced to retire due to illness in 1988. He loved horses and was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time on his boat.

    Surviving is his wife Mary (Holmes) Wedge of Leicester; whom he married April 21, 1962 in Tully, MA, 2 daughters Janice Wedge of Whitehall, NH, Sara Smith of Bristol, 4 sons Kevin Wedge of Addison, Burton Wedge of Brandon, Kenneth Wedge of Bridport, Donald Wedge, Jr of Brandon, 2 sisters Norma LeBanc of Woodsville, NH and Jamie Wedge of Chazy, NY. 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by a sister Linnie Davis and a brother Donald Wedge, Sr.

    The funeral service was held on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. Robert Bove, pastor of the Brandon Baptist Church officiated. A private burial will take place, at the convenience of the family.

    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory to; American Cancer Society, Vermont Chapter, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495 or to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.

Arlene A. Morin

Middlebury - Arlene A. Morin 76, died Saturday morning October 30, 2010 at her home in Middlebury.

    She was born March 22, 1934 in Brandon, VT the daughter of Robert and Thelma (Severy) Whitney.

    Arlene was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury. She was a foster mother for over twenty-six years.

    She enjoyed cooking, scrapbooking, yard sales, and working in her flower gardens. She enjoyed spending time with family and attending to her aquariums.

    Survivors are her husband Rejean Morin of Middlebury; her children, Oral Morin of Middlebury, David Morin of Middlebury, Jan Morin and his wife Sherry of Port Henry, NY, Joyce Dupoise and her husband Craig of Salisbury and Robert Morin and his wife Heather of Salisbury; her sisters, Robin Jackson and Lydia Whitney, both of Salisbury; ten grandchildren and her four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

    She was predeceased by her son Ricky Morin; her daughter Kathy Houle, brother Earle Robert Whitney and a sister Lizabelle Whitney, and grandson, Abraham Seeley

    A Celebration of her life was held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Middlebury Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #7823, Exchange St.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Ste 240, 121 Connor Way, Williston, VT 05495-8220 or to the American Diabetes 77 Hegeman Ave, Colchester, VT 05446-3113
