Thomas Gerald Russell

Starksboro - Thomas Gerald Russell 55 passed away Tuesday October 12, 2010 at his home in Starksboro.

    He was born March 6, 1955 in Middlebury the son of Ernest and Gene Clark Russell.

    He was a member of American Legion Post #19 in Bristol.

    Thomas is survived by his brothers, Bobby and Ernie Russell of Starksboro; a sister Sheila Kelly of California; two children Scott and Thomas Russell Jr.; four grandchildren, Emily, Bella, Hunter and Alex.

Lawrence "Lary" Joseph Fusco

BRANDON - Lawrence "Lary" Joseph Fusco, age 63, died Monday, October 11, 2010, at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington.

    Lary was born in Rutland on April 27th, 1947. He was the son of Arvido and Gladys (Vladyka) Fusco. He grew up in Rutland and graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy, Class of 1965. He received a degree in Business Administration from Syracuse University, Class of 1969. Lary worked as a Production Manager at 3M, Kors, and G. H. Grimm. After 1987, he owned and operated Vermont Art Studio in Pittsford until his retirement in 2006. Following retirement, he continued working part-time at Aubuchon Hardware in Brandon. Lary's entrepreneurial spirit was evident in each facet of his career. He was a fixture of downtown Brandon's Central Park with a quick smile and a firm handshake, as he operated Lary's Hotdogs "The Umbrella Room". He was a past member of the Brandon Rotary Club, the Brandon Area Chamber of Commerce, the Proctor Fish & Game Club, and the Brandon Rescue Squad. He was a Shriner and a member of Masonic Lodge #79 in Rutland. He was a Shriner and a member of Masonic Lodge #79 in Rutland. He spent his days surrounded by the friends he loved both in Vermont and in York Beach, ME.  Lary will be missed by all who knew him.

    Surviving is his wife, Marie Barrett Fusco, of Brandon; whom he married on August 9th, 1969 at Christ the King Church in Rutland; a daughter, Keri (Fusco) DiLeo, her husband, Mike, & son, Joseph of Sudbury, MA; a brother, Ron Fusco, his wife, Amy, & daughter, Rachel, of Saipan, Mariana Islands; a sister, Arvina Fusco Westcot, & her husband, Tom, of Vienna, VA and a large extended family.

    A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brandon. The Rev. Albert "Skip" Baltz, Pastor, was the celebrant.

Sylvia M Menard

Bristol - Sylvia M Menard 78 passed away Tuesday October 12, 2010 at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

    She was born November 19, 1931 in Essex Junction the daughter of Robert and Sylvia Ploof Carter.

    She was a member of Bristol Rescue Squad and St. Ambrose Church in Bristol. Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.

    Sylvia is survived by her husband of 29 years, George Menard of Bristol; six children Laura Babcock Barrows and husband Robert (Chuck); Michael Menard and friend Tina Ward; Arnold Menard; Bernadette Menard; Lisa Menard; Henry Babcock and wife Stacy; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a daughter Theresa Steadman.

    A memorial service was held on Saturday October 16th at St. Ambrose Church in Bristol. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Heart Association Vermont Affiliate, 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495.

Dwight E. Burnham Jr.

Addison - Dwight E. Burnham Jr. 79 passed away Tuesday October 12, 2010 at his home in Addison, surrounded by his children and their family.

    He was born December 11, 1930 in Bloomfield, CT the son of Dwight and Bernice Snyder Burnham Sr.
Dwight served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He moved to Waltham, VT in 1957, where he and his father owned and operated Wintonbury Farm. He was a director of Field Days, a member of select board in Addison, American Legion Post # 14 in Vergennes, a member and Past Master of Dorchester Masonic Lodge # 1 F&AM in Vergennes, Scottish Rite & Cairo Shrine Temple in Rutland, Vergennes Lions Club, and Holstein Association.

    Dwight ran successful dairy farms in New Hampshire and Vermont. After farming, he and his brother Frank owned and operated Wintonbury Transit, a local trucking company. Continuing on with his trucking career, Dwight drove truck for E.Pomainville Inc., for many years. Upon leaving E.Pomainville he went to work for Betcha-Transit, to drive school bus where he could be closer to home. He found this job rewarding because he loved transporting the children to and from school. Dwight retired from there in Dec. 2009. Dwight was an avid sportsman and enjoyed many hunting trips to Alaska and Colorado. Through the years Dwight made many friends in all that he did. And above all he loved and cherished his family.

    Dwight is survived by his wife Anita Jones Burnham a son Kim Michael Burnham and his wife Susan Barkley of Essex Jct., daughter Beth and her husband Craig Bemis of New Haven.; his sister Janet and her husband Fred Bickford of South Tamworth,NH; his brothers, Franklin and wife Carol of Avon, CT and John and wife Debbie of Hingham, MA; his grandchildren Thomas and Matthew Bemis and Cassandra Fraser; a aunt and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Anita’s children Michael Burbank and wife Diane, Willeen and husband Michael Lamphere;  A special thanks to his caregivers Claude and Bernadette LaBerge.

    Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday October 18th at West Addison United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Addison. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.
