Middlebury firefighters responded to a structure fire on Monday morning October 4th 2010 at 59 Otterside Court in Middlebury.  Firefighters arrived to find the unit fully involved in flames on the  inside upper floor and quickly attacked the building inside and out in order to protect adjacent units.

According to the Vermont Department of Public Safety Fire Investigation Unit.  “The firefighters encountered fire which was isolated to the upper floor of one residence.  The residence was located in a center unit of a three unit complex.  Firefighters were able to get control of the blaze quickly with direct suppressive efforts and prevented fire from spreading to either adjacent unit.” according to VDPS.

State fire investigators in conjunction with MVFD determined that the fire was accidental and damage was estimated at $50,000.  No injuries were reported.  The entire condominium unit was affected by smoke and water damage investigators indicated in their released information on Monday October 4th 2010 at 2:50 p.m.
