Helen Mary Kessop

BRANDON - Helen Mary Kessop, age 80, died Saturday, September, 25, 2010 at Newark Wayne Community Hospital in Newark, NY.

    Mrs. Kessop was born in Bennington, VT on April 12, 1930. She was the daughter of Gerald and Ethel (Keith) Fowler. She received her early education in local Rutland, VT schools. She had lived for many years in the Danbury, CT area where she worked as an inspector for Barden Corporation. She moved with her family to Brandon in 1985 and later to Phelps, NY. She loved horse racing and had owned several race horses over the years. She enjoyed baking and art’s & crafts.

    Surviving is 2 daughters; Rose Florkiewicz of Marion, NY, with whom she had made her home and Susan Frattini of Branford, CT, a sister Bernice Czyzewski of Schenectady, NY. One grandson and several nieces, nephews & cousins also survive her, as well as close friends Edith & Walt Pyle and Steven Manko. Her pride and joys Ernie, Toughie and Kitty also survive her. She was predeceased by a brother Bernard Fowler and a sister Nina Pollard.

     The graveside committal service and burial will take place on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at 12 Noon at Mountain View Cemetery in Orwell. The Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church will officiate.

    There are no public calling hours.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Tamara Sue Hickson Bardos

 

Brandon, VT/Goodyear, AZ - Tamara Sue Hickson Bardos, 67,  formerly of Brandon, died on September 30, 2010 in Goodyear, Arizona.  Born in Lebanon, Indiana, August 30, 1943 to Betty Jean Allen & Marvin Morrell Hickson.   She was graduated from Lebanon High School in 1961.  She was a graduate of  Castleton (VT) State College and Franklin College of Indiana where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi.  She completed graduate work in gerontology at the University of Vermont.  Prior to retirement in 2006 she was a Registered Nurse (psychiatric) at Rutland Regional Medical Center where she served as a nursing instructor and discharge planner.

    She was predeceased by her father and her brother, Gary.  She is survived by her mother & stepfather, Betty & Bob Delong of Lebanon; her brother M. Randall Hickson of New Whiteland, IN; her husband, The Rev'd. Dr. Gordon Bardos, of Sun City, AZ; her son, Ellery (Amiee) Bardos of Noblesville, IN; her daughter, Rebecca (Patrick) Mulcahy of Sudbury, VT; six grandchildren and one great grandchild, nephews and nieces.

    A memorial mass will be celebrated at a date to be announced.  Memorials in her name may be sent to the Society of St. John the Evangelist, 980 Memorial Drive, Cambridge, MA  02138.

Myrna Gato Holdman

MIDDLEBURY - Myrna Gato Holdman, age 59, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at her home; following a 10 year battle with Lung Cancer.

    Myrna was born in Palawan, Philippines on January 22, 1951. She was the daughter of Raynario and Salvacion (Francia) Gato. She had taught Chemistry in the Philippines, where she met and married her former husband; Stephen Holdman. She came to San Diego, CA with her family in 1973 and on to Vermont in 1975.

    She was a graduate of Champlain College and received her Bachelors Degree in accounting from St. Michael's College in Winooski. She had worked for over 15 years at Helen Porter Health & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury. She also provided income tax services to many clients. She was an energetic, loving, kind and giving person who enjoyed visiting and shopping with family and friends. Her granddaughters were her passion.

    Surviving is 2 daughters Jane Holdman of Atlanta, GA and Valeria Doria and her husband Sutton of Middlebury, her granddaughters Hana and Quinn Doria
and mother Salvacion Gato, and her partner-in-life Michael Moyer, and his children Betsy, Michel and Michael Moyer, Jr and his grandchildren; Kinsey, Amaya, Ella and Thomik. Her siblings; Mercedes, Emanuel, Anselmo, Milagros, Benito, Cenon and Virginia and many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive her.

    Friends were invited to share in a "Celebration Of Her Life" on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the Middlebury American Legion Post. The graveside committal service and burial followed the gathering.

    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; The Myrna Holdman Memorial Fund, c/o her daughter; Valerie Doria, 358 South Street, Middlebury, VT 05753.
