Malcolm L. Bronson

SHOREHAM - Malcolm L. Bronson, 86, passed away on June 11, 2010, with family by his side at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury following a period of failing health.

    He was born in Bridport, VT, on July 6, 1923, the son of the late Horace and Alice (Myrick) Bronson. He was a retired dairy farmer.

    He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army, and a member of the American Legion, VFW and DAV.  He was a member of the Masons, he was an early member of the Bridport Fire Department.  He loved the outdoors, working in the yard and garden, and woodworking. He loved to joke and laugh, loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed by them.

    He is survived by: his loving wife of 62 years Isabelle (Jackson); Sons - David, Kim, Timothy and wife Donna, Jack and wife Bonnie; Daughters - Rebecca and husband John, Susan; Grandchildren - Jason and wife Sarah, Melissa and husband Daniel, Seth, Heather, Keith, Jenna, Eric; Granddaughter - Antonia; Brothers - Horace, Jr. and wife Joyce, Thad and wife Ginny; and many nieces and nephews. 

    He was predeceased by:  Brothers - Wymond, Lloyd, Bernard; and Sister - Thelma.

    Graveside services wereheld on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Bridport Central Cemetery in Bridport. The Rev. Tim Franklin officiated.

    The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Bridport Historical Society, 3177 Crown Pt Rd, Bridport, VT 05734, or the Bridport Fire Dept., 125 Crown Pt Rd, Bridport, VT 05734.

Howard F. Miller        

Cape Coral, FL/Vergennes, VT - Howard F. Miller passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2009 in Cape Coral Hospital, Cape Coral, Florida. He was born in White River Junction, VT on June 4, 1920, the son of the late Leon and Ida (Vehring) Miller.

    Howard was a graduate of Kimball Union Academy, Meriden, NH. He was employed at Fellows Gear Shaper in Springfield, VT for some time. He worked at Oliver Tractor and Cletrac in Cleveland, OH before moving to Vergennes, VT in 1945 to open an Oliver and Cletrac Dealership. In 1948 he opened Miller Chevrolet Co, which he operated until his retirement in 1991. Upon retirement he moved to Cape Coral, FL.

    Howard was a member of Dorchester Lodge #1 F&AM, Cairo Shrine, York Rite of Free Masonry, Scottish Rite, Elbon Shrine Club of Middlebury and Jesters. He was a member of the Cairo Cycle Corp since 1954. He was also a member of the NE Harley Davidson International Touring Association and the NRA.

    Howard was a member of the Elks Club since 1941. He was also a member of the Vergennes Eagles Club and past president of the Vergennes Rotary Club.

    He proudly served the City of Vergennes as an Alderman and Deputy Mayor for 13 years. He provided driver education vehicles for the Vergennes Union High School.

    Howard was an avid boater and enjoyed golfing and motorcycling. He and his wife enjoyed traveling on his Harley around the country. He had a great love of antique boats and owned several that he took great pleasure in showing at Boat Shows. His Garwood, Snail, is now in the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, NY.

    He was a member of Palmetto Pine Country Club, Cape Coral, Basin Harbor Club, Vergennes and Westport Country Club, Westport, NY.

    Survivors include his wife Esther (Bristol) Miller, son Douglas (Vipha) of Newbury Park CA, a daughter Terry Colston and grandson, Keith, both of Woodstock, VT , his brother, Mark, of Arroyo Grande, CA. Three stepchildren, Deborah Vezina and Jeffrey Yandow of VT and Cynthia Strojny of Georgia.

    A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday June 26th at Vergennes Congregational Church in Vergennes. Interment will be in Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes. Friends may call at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes on Friday June 25th from 5 to 8 p.m. A Masonic service will be held 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made Boston Shriners Children Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.

Gary Wayne Huntley

 

May 9, 1950---June 17, 2010

    On Thursday, the 17th of June Gary “Swampy” Huntley, age 60 passed away ending his 11 years of coping with being a quadriplegic. He’s finally free…

    Gary is survived by his mother, Lucille Huntley of Leicester Jct., his two sisters; Marjorie McCullough and her husband Timothy of Leicester, Sue Nagy & her husband Ross of Rutland, one brother Oliver Huntley III & his wife Marie of Forestdale. Eight nieces and nephews, six great nephews and one niece also survive him.

    Gary had a great love for his family and friends. Music and dancing were a big part of his life. Helping and caring for others came naturally to him. He was proud of his tattoos, a part of himself he didn’t have to lose. He was so appreciative of all his home health care providers, especially Beth Thibault and his mother, who cared for him daily throughout the past 11 years at home. He will be missed by all. He’s in a better place now where he can spread his wings.

    The funeral service was held on Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. Richard White, Pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church officiated. The graveside committal service and burial followed in the family lot, at Pine Hill Cemetery.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
