Jeffery Alan Lyons

Jeffery Alan Lyons passed away peacefully at home early Monday morning, February 15. He fought mightily to not leave his beloved wife, Kristin, his sons, Schuyler and Grayson, his parents, John and Moe Lyons, his sister, Pam Lyons Eicher, a multitude of friends and 2 faithful dogs.

Born April 11, 1955, in Maricaibo, Venezuela, he grew up in Madison, New Jersey, where he graduated from high school in 1973. He found home in Vermont in 1976. Extremely intelligent, he loved learning and attended numerous schools including Goddard, Evergreen, and Cornell. Most recently he had earned a Master's degree in psychology and had just opened a counseling service when he was diagnosed with advanced cancer in October 2008.

From 1998 to 2005 he owned Vinyl Destination, Vermont's largest record store that drew music lovers not just for its unusual variety of recordings but for the great conversation and camaraderie Jeff generously provided. He was a friend to all he met, accepting everyone for who they were and using his encyclopedic mind to connect with them in some special way. He will be missed terribly.

His family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Fletcher Allen hospital, Charlotte Family Health Center, Addison County Home Health and Hospice, Hinesburg Alliance Church, friends, neighbors and the extended community of wonderful people, many who had never met Jeff, who were so helpful during this difficult time. A memorial service was held at the Vergennes Congregational Church Saturday, February 20.
