KEVIN  FLYNN

WHITING - Kevin M. Flynn, 50, died Saturday, January 9, 2010, along with his beautiful daughter, Carrie Laurette Flynn and his little angel granddaughter, Bryanna Popp in a snowmobile accident on Lake Dunmore in Salisbury.

    Born December 17, 1959 in Burlington, he was the son of Olin and Eunice (Stevens) Flynn.  

    Kevin was a graduate of Vergennes Union High School, class of 1978.  Kevin was valued employee of Quesnels Holsteins Agri-Mark

    Kevin was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle.

    He married his longtime sweetheart, Terry Hubbell on July 31, 1981.

    Family members include his wife, Terry L. Flynn of Whiting, his parents, Olin and Eunice Flynn of Ferrisburgh; two daughters, Kady Popp and her husband Donavan of Brandon, and Kellie Flynn of Whiting; two grandsons, Jeremiah Popp and Aiden Decker; step grandchildren, Dominick and Samantha Popp, all of Brandon; his in-laws, Clarence and Yvette Sturtevant ; his siblings, Zandra and Marcel Cousino, Iona and Loren Smith, Mari and Paul Quesnel, Shari and Roger Lussier, Timothy and Erica Flynn, his brother-in-law Mark Hubbell and fiancée Tracy Payne; several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.  

    He was predeceased by his grandparents;Charles and Madline Flynn, Arnold and Beatrice Stevens and a special nephew, Scott Cousino.  

   A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. William R. Beaudin, pastor, as celebrant.  Spring burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Brandon.  

    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Vergennes, Middlebury and Brandon Rescue Squad.

Carrie Laurette Flynn

WHITING - Carrie Laurette Flynn, 24, died Saturday January 9, 2010 along with her loving father, Kevin M. Flynn and her little angel niece, Bryanna Popp in a snowmobile accident on Lake Dunmore in Salisbury.  

    Born in Middlebury, January 17, 1985, she was the daughter of Kevin M. and Terry (Hubbell) Flynn.

    Carrie was a graduate of Otter Valley Union High School, class of 2003 and was currently employed at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Middlebury.

    Carrie is survived by her mother, Terry L. Flynn of Whiting, two sisters, Kady Popp and her husband Donavan of Brandon, and Kellie Flynn of Whiting; her grandparents, Clarence and Yvette Sturtevant of New Haven, Olin and Eunice Flynn of Ferrisburgh; several aunts and uncles, Zandra and Marcel Cousino, Iona and Loren Smith, Mari and Paul Quesnel, Shari and Roger Lussier, Timothy and Erica Flynn, Mark Hubbell and his fiancée Tracy Payne; two nephews, Jeremiah Popp and Aiden Decker; step- nephew and niece Dominick and Samantha Popp; and many cousins.

BRYANNA  POPP

BRANDON- Bryanna Lynn Popp, 3 1/2, the beloved daughter of Donovan and Kady Popp, fondly known as “Sissy,” passed away with her Papa, Kevin Flynn, and her Aunt Carrie Flynn, Saturday, January 9, 2010 in a snowmobile accident on Lake Dunmore in Salisbury.

    Born June 12, 2006 in Middlebury she was the daughter of Anthony Donovan and Kady L. (Flynn) Popp.  

    Bryanna was a very happy child, always with a mischievious smile on her face.  She was joyful, talkative and energized.  She enjoyed playing with her older brother and cousin, riding snowmobiles and four wheelers.  She loved going to preschool with all her friends and teachers, Tammy and Debbie; and her special friend Brenda Mallory.

    Family members, in addition to her parents, are her brothers, Dominick J. Popp, Jeremiah D. Popp and her sister, Samantha J. Popp, all of Brandon; her grandmothers, Terry Flynn of Whiting and Cindi Mitchell of Middlebury; her grandfather, Anthony Popp of Middlebury; great-grandparents, Olin and Eunice Flynn of Ferrisburgh, Clarence and Yvette Sturtevant of New Haven, and Elaine Popp of Mineville, NY; a special aunt, Kellie Flynn of Whiting, and a special cousin Aiden Decker; an aunt, Jennifer Popp and her fiancée Mike; and cousins, Felecity, Olivia, and Noah all of Pittsford; uncles Jed of Manchester, Travis and his wife Danielle and cousin, Landon all of White River Junction, Joshua of Seattle, WA, Charlie White of Seattle; and Matt White and his wife Kristin of Bristol, many great aunts, great uncles and cousins.  Special friends included Bobbi Jo and Jeremy Jones, of Leicester, Ronnie and Carolyn, Ricky and Randy Hayes, all of Brandon.

    Bryanna joins the company of her uncle, Joe Decker, her grandfather, Kevin Flynn, aunt, Carrie Flynn and a special friend, Tina “Big Sissy” Dukette.

Sidney I. Long

Hancock - Sidney I. Long 72, died Thursday January 7, 2010 unexpectedly at his home in Hancock.

    He was born March 27, 1937 in Warren, VT the son of the late Roy & Mildred (Downer) Long.

    Sid work at Weyerhaeuser Mill in Hancock for over 40 years and was well liked.

    He is survived by his five siblings and many nieces and nephews and by his beloved companion Roxie.

    Funeral services were held on Sunday January 17, 2010 at 2 PM at the Hancock Community Church. The Rev. Wayne Holsman officiated.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Addison County humane society at 236 Boardman Street Middlebury, VT 05753.

Alice F. Williams

 

Lincoln - Alice F. Williams,70, died Monday January 11, 2010 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

She was born July 23, 1939 in Middletown Springs, VT the daughter of the late Edgar and Violet (Coombs) Matteson.

    Alice enjoyed quilting and watching game shows.
Survivors are her son Glen Williams, of Salisbury, her daughters, Liza Williams of Colorado and Roxanne Williams of Shoreham; four sisters, Mary Varga, of Washington State, Eunice Beayon, of Poultney, Bessie Woodbury of Castleton, and Doris Bardwell, of Boise Idaho; brothers, Raymond Matteson, of Leigh High, FL, Phillip Matteson, of Tennessee, Carroll Matteson of Fort Ann, NY, Danny Matteson, of West Rutland and Michael Matteson of Charlotte, N.C., and also by several nieces and nephews.

    She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Williams, a son John Williams, five brothers and three sisters and a grandson.

    Funeral services were held on Friday January 15, 2010 at 11 A.M.  at  Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main Street Middlebury VT.

    Burial will be at a later in Riverside Cemetery in Ira at a later date.

Marilyn E. Smith

Salisbury - Marilyn E. Smith, 84, passed away peacefully Monday, January 11, 2010 surrounded by her loving family, at the home of her daughter Minda Bagley.

    Born August 31, 1925 in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Bessie (Stagg) Sprague. Marilyn was a strong, loving, caring, sister, wife, mom, grandmother and friend.

    She is survived by her children, Robert H. Smith and his wife Theresa, of Colchester, Wayne D. Smith and his wife Diane, of Salisbury and Minda Bagley, of Salisbury. Eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and six great, great-grandchildren; two sisters Alberta Jackson, of Panton and Georgia Wetherby, of Lexington, S.C., step brother Joel Fifield, of Middlebury, numerous nieces and nephews.

    Marilyn was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Guy E Smith who died in 1989, son James G. Smith who died in 1992, son-in-law Harvey R. Bagley who died in 2009 and her sister Barbara Moulton who died in 1995,

    Funeral services was held on Saturday January 16, 2010 at 1 P.M. at the West Addison Methodist Church. The Rev. Michael Doran will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Town Line Cemetery in Bridport.
