Theresa May Steadman

New Haven -  Theresa May Steadman 42 passed away Sunday November 8, 2009 at her home in New Haven.

    She was born May 3, 1967 in Middlebury the daughter of George and Sheila Fitzgerald Menard.

    Theresa is survived by her husband Kevin Steadman of New Haven and their children Joshua, Jacob, and Jonnelle; Parents, George Menard and his wife Sylvia of Bristol; mother Sheila Carpenter of Middlebury; two brothers Mike Menard and Arnold Menard both of Bristol; two sisters Lisa Menard of Summerfield, FL and Bernadette Menard of East Middlebury; a stepbrother Henry Babcock and his wife Stacy, a stepsister Laura Barrows and her husband Robert. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

    A graveside service was held on Thursday November 12th at Maple Cemetery in Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495-1460. Brown - McClay Funeral Home in Bristol will be in charge of arrangements.

Geraldine M. Fleming

 

Panton -  Geraldine M. Fleming,76 passed away Monday November 9, 2009 at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington.

    She was born November 24, 1932 in Manchester, NH the daughter of Frank and Madeline Hill Holmes.

    She worked for Simmonds Precision for many years, and she did volunteer work for ACTR. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, bingo, watching the birds, and following up on gossip. She will be greatly missed by all.

    She was predeceased by her husband Ned Oliver Fleming on May 24, 2008.

    Geraldine is survived by four children, Lynn and Charles Finch of Warden, WA, Larry and Denise Fleming of Addison, Lisa and Christopher Preston of Addison, Lance and Penny Fleming of Bridport; 10 grandchildren, Missy, Mandy, Jessie, Michael, Terra, Lilly, Dylan, Evan, Nathan, and Jordan; 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Frank Holmes of Newport, NH; a sister, Mary Ann Wedge and her husband Jerry of Leicester; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was predeceased by two sons, infant son Ray Oliver and Lee James Fleming.

    A gathering was held on Friday November 13th at the family’s home in Panton.

Tilly DeGraaf

 

On Tuesday, November 10, 2009, the Lord graciously called Tilly DeGraaf to her heavenly home. Her husband William predeceased her in 1986.  She was born on December 2, 1917 in Ferwoude (Friesland), The Netherlands.  In 1958, exactly 51 years ago, she and her family immigrated to the United States and settled in Waltham, Vermont.  For many years Tilly and Bill operated a dairy farm in Panton, VT.  She was a founding member of the Champlain Valley Christian Reformed Church and supporter of Christian education at the Champlain Valley Christian School.   She is survived by her children, John and Elisabeth DeGraaf of Ferrisburgh, Robert and Joan DeGraaf of Panton, Agnes and Ted Boelens of Panton, Charles and Victoria DeGraaf of Colchester, Gerrit and June DeGraaf of Ruckersville, VA, Martha and Bert Gosliga of Addison, and Harold and Anje DeGraaf of Richmond.  She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Tilly greatly appreciated visits from family and friends and the wonderful care she received from Addison County Home Health and Hospice.  Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Champlain Valley Christian School - Capital Campaign, PO Box 138, Vergennes, VT 05491 or Addison County Home Health and Hospice, Rt. 7 North, Middlebury, VT 05753.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Champlain Valley Christian Reformed Church, in Vergennes, VT.

Marion Sears LeBeau

 

Vergennes -  Marion Sears LeBeau 88 passed away Sunday November 8, 2009 at Vergennes Residential Care.

    She was born March 8, 1921 in Vergennes the daughter of Charles and Alice Baldwin Remele.

    She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes.

    She was predeceased by her first husband Clement Sears on September 7, 1976 and by her second husband Robert C. LeBeau on March 6, 2005.

    Marion is survived by her three children, Carol Garrison and husband Joseph of Niantic, CT, Sylvia and Jack Hickle of Indianapolis, Indiana, Michael and Noella Sears of North Ferrisburgh; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

    A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday November 12th at St. Pete’s Catholic Church in Vergennes. Interment was in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Vergennes.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vergennes Residential Care, 34 North St. Vergennes, VT or St. Peter’s Restoration Fund, 85 South Maple St., Vergennes, VT 05491.

Dora (Stearns) May Casey

 

North Ferrisburgh - Dora (Stearns) May Casey 84, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday November 10, 2009 at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington.

    She was born September 11, 1925 in Charlotte the daughter of Clarence and Katherine Bannister Stearns.

    Predeceased by her first husband Edward Loven in 1971 and second husband Edward P. Casey in 1983.

    Dora is survived by six children, Bernard Loven of N. Ferrisburgh, Frank Loven of Willsboro, NY, Lyle Loven of Vergennes, Calvin Loven of Leicester, Helen Swenor of N. Ferrisburgh, David Loven of Vergennes; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; several step children, step grandchildren, step nieces and step nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Patricia Loven and granddaughter Britney Loven, four sisters and eight brothers.

    Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Monday November 16th at North Ferrisburgh United Methodist Church. Interment will be in North Ferrisburgh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vergennes Area Rescue Squad, PO Box 11, Vergennes, VT 05491, or Addison County Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.

Everett R. Williams

 

Middlebury - Everett R. Williams 89 of Middlebury, died on November 11, 2009 after a long illness.  He was born on March 30, 1920, the son of Michael & Mary (St. Pierre) Williams in Pawtucket, RI.  He attended schools in Pawtucket before entering the U.S. Army in 1930-1941.  After the Army he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific during WWII.  

    He married Pauline V. Rocheleau on February 17, 1940 in Troy, NH.  He worked for Central VT Public Service Corp. for 38 years before retiring to FL.  In 1992 he and his wife returned to Middlebury for their remaining years.  He was a life member of the VFW and American Legion, a former 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus.

    Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Pauline R. Williams; two daughters Donnalee Many and her husband Paul of Middlebury, Jerilyn LaDuc of Rutland; three sons: Michael and his wife Eileen of Edgewater, MD, Phillip and his partner Paula Mayer of Middlebury, Douglas and his fiancée Karen Gach of Orrtanna, PA, 15 grandchildren and numerous great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    He was predeceased by a daughter, Claudene Slack, three brothers; Earl, Raymond and Francis, also a sister Connie Roy, and 3 grandchildren.

    Calling hours were held at Sanderson Funeral Home 117 S. Main Street, Middlebury on Friday November 13.  A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday November 14 by Rev. William Beaudin celebrant.

Alice DeCoursey Fraser

 

Bristol - Alice DeCoursey Fraser, 86, of Bristol, VT went home to the lord on Tuesday November 1oth, 2009 with her family by her side.

    Alice was born on January 7th, 1923 the daughter of Irene and Wallace DeCoursey.  She married the love of her life Herbert Fraser in 1945.

    She was a loving and caring mother and loved spending time with her family and friends.  She very much loved going to lunch every week with her sister Marie.

    Alice is survived by her sons Robert Fraser of Bristol, Richard Fraser and his wife Ann of Milton; tow grandsons Robbie Fraser of So. Starksboro, Brian Fraser of Vergennes; two granddaughter Cassandra Fraser of Bristol, Kelly Morris of Milton; and a great grqanddaughter Kaylie of Milton; her sister Marie Conant of Richmond; a sister in law Ruth Mahoney of Massachussetts; a niece Coleen and Roger Stearns and there son Brett Layn and daughter Daneille Dale and their families all of Callifornia; two brothers in law Cleo Spaulding and Willard Conant; a niece Lynn and Lyle St. Jean of Ferrisburgh and their children;several nieces and nephews.

    Alice served in WWII as an Army nurse at Fort Devens, MA and worked for many years as anurse iat Bristol Elementery School.

    Alice was predeceased by her husband Herbert Fraser, her parents Irene and Wallace DeCoursey.

    Alice was devoted  to her church St. Ambrose in Bristol.

    She will be missed by her family and many friends.  The family wishes to thank Dr. Kevin Mulholland and Dr. Snyder and all the staff at Porter Hospital for all the care and Support and Lorraine Hallock for helping out Alice.

    A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Friday Nov. 13th at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Bristol.  Interment will be in Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol. Friends may call at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol on Thursday Nov. 12 form 5 to 8 p.m.
