American Legion Post # 14 is proud to announce a Jazz Evening that will bring together the talents of exceptional jazz artists as a fundraiser for the Legion charitable fund. Saturday, September 19th from 7-11 p.m. the Post will be home to the collective talents of jazz clarinetist Bud Leeds, trombonist Bill Braslin, bass Peter Williams, keyboardist Rob Guerrina and drummer Nick Aloi. Bud Leeds is known all over America for bringing to together the best in jazz for performances and benefit concerts and let American Legion Post Commander Larney McGrath know that this benefit had a surprise guest; jazz acoustic violinist Jonathan Russell.

The New York Times remarked about this fourteen year old jazz musician,  “When he solos, he embraces his instrument and enters a private cocoon, where he conjures sophisticated improvisations on melodies of jazz.”  One of the recipients of the Daniel Pearl Memorial violin, Russell has already played on the Lincoln Center stage with Wynton Marsalis, Bucky Pizzarelli and the late Les Paul and the blending of his talents with those of Bud Leeds and the others will result in a Jazz Evening to remember in Vergennes.

Tickets for this event are limited and are on sale at the American Legion in Vergennes. The evening begins at 7:00 p.m. with appetizers and continues with an evening of jazz until 11:00p.m.  Tickets are $15.00 for a couple and $8.00 for a single and will go fast. Come for this memorable event and help the Legion reach their charitable fund goals.
