Lula Helen Spenard

Weybridge - Lula Helen Spenard, 92, of Weybridge passed away at her home early Monday, June 29, 2009.  The daughter of Amos and Edith Delphia of Bridport, Lula was preceded in death by her husbands Raymond Lovejoy and Albert Spenard, and by her son Raymond Lovejoy.  For many years she operated her own seamstress/ tailoring business in Middlebury.  After retiring, she took great pride in knitting hundreds of pairs of mittens for her church and area organizations.  It was a sad day when her failing eyesight forced her to retire her knitting needles.  She is survived by four children:  Rose Rishell and her husband Randy of Fredericksburg, VA; Anne Goodrich and her husband Herbert of Derry, NH; Andre Spenard and his wife Valerie of Gresham, OR; Emelda Dahms and her husband Kenneth of Lebanon, OH.  Lula is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren:  Sarah (Rishell) Bateman, her husband James and their sons Brian and Jacob; Julie (Rishell) Hill and her husband Nathan; and Meghan Elizabeth Goodrich.  A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009 at St. Mary’s Church in Middlebury.  Burial will occur in Resurrection Park in South Burlington at the family’s convenience.  Lula was able to remain in her home thanks to the services of Meals on Wheels, Addison County Home Health & Hospice, and the kindness of many friends who gave generously of their time.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Lula’s name may be made to:  CVAA Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 158, Winooski, VT 05404; or Addison County Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.  Arrangements are in care of Stephen C. Gregory & Son Cremation Service, Shelburne, VT  05482.
