Ryah Whittelsey

Monkton - Ryah Whittelsey  61, passed away peacefully in the night on Wednesday June 17, 2009 at her home in Monkton.

She was born April 28, 1948 in Porchester, NY.

    Ryah was a member of Vergennes Congregational Church and she sang in the choir, Golden Shadow Group in Standard, VT, and Otter Creek Choral Society. She worked as a practical nurse for many years at Mary Fletcher Hospital in the Dialysis Department, Visiting Nurses of Chittenden County, and last place she worked was Northlands Job Corps Center in Vergennes.

    She was an empathetic loving soul who could easily connect with other people and provide comfort.

    Ryah is survived by her husband Neil L. Whittelsey, a daughter Mary Kate Currier and her husband Scott, her sister Roddy Dary, her brother Ben and wife Josie, Harriet Whittlesey, many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

    A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday June 23rd at Vergennes Congregational Church with a reception following. There will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Prevent Child Abuse Vermont, PO Box 829, Montpelier, VT 05602.
