Laurie Wallace Bissonette

Ferrisburgh-Laurie Wallace Bissonette, 55, passed away unexpectedly during her courageous battle with Cancer Friday, May 22. Born on September 16, 1953 in Rochester, NY Laurie spent her childhood being active on Swim Teams and Diving Teams.

    Throughout her life she spent her summers in the Adirondack Mountain’s at her Parent’s camp in Eagle Bay, NY with her family and friends.  

   Laurie graduated from Pittsford Sutherland High School in 1971, Green Mountain College in 1973 and Johnson State College in 1975 with a Teaching Degree and taught in many different school districts in Vermont.

    Laurie was a devoted Wife and Amazing Mother to her Husband and Girls whom always came first before anything. She loved her dogs and loved to bring them everywhere with her.

    Laurie was an avid lover of the outdoors all year round and loved to share that experience with her family. She often could be found lying in the sun at the lake or the ocean.

    She passed on her love of the water through teaching swim lessons and by being a Swim Coach for many years. She also taught Gymnastics and was a Sunday School Teacher at Vergennes United Methodist Church.

    She found the job she loved working with kids in the ACT Program and had an integral role in the High School Special Education Program at Vergennes Union High School.

   She is survived by her Husband Randall A. Bissonette, children Kristen W. Bissonette, Sarah A. Bissonette. Parents, William T. Wallace, and Elaine K. Wallace. Sister Barbara Crowder and her Husband Robert Crowder. Sister-in-law Brenda Bissonette and her Husband Tim Butler. Brother-in-law Pete Bissonette and his Wife Judy Bissonette. Mother-in-law C. Jean Bissonette. Nephews Robert Crowder Jr., Richard Crowder, and Andrew Bissonette. Niece Heidi Bissonette. Many Cousins and Relatives of the Barrett and Droser Families. And all of her students that she loved and cared for so much. Laurie is predeceased by her Father-in-law Arthur E. Bissonette

     Laurie’s Family celebrated her life on Friday, May 29th  at Kingsland Bay State Park in Ferrisburgh  Laurie will be laid to rest at the Vermont Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, VT at a later date. Lynn D. Sumner Sr.

Goshen- Lynn D. Sumner Sr. 52 passed away Tuesday May 19, 2009 at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

    He was born May 28, 1956 in Burlington the son the late Elynzer Liberty and the late Marjorie Sumner.

    His hobbies were fishing, hunting, gardening, spending time with his family, horse back riding, drinking his Budweiser and working.

     Lynn is survived by his two sons, Lynn D. Sumner Jr. of West Haven; Christopher Sumner of Salisbury; a daughter Samantha Sumner of Goshen; a step daughter Carrie Jennings of Fair Haven; two grandsons; two granddaughters; a brother Amos Sumner of Hinesburg; two sisters Phylis Gill Sumner of East Middlebury; Mary Sumner of NY; several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held  on Tuesday May 26th at Victory Baptist Church in Vergennes.. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family c/o Lynn Sumner Jr. 3876 Main Road, West Haven, VT 05743.

Gladys Elizabeth Danyow

Vergennes-Gladys Elizabeth Danyow, 92 passed away Monday May 18, 2009  at De Paul Medical Center in Norfolk, Virginia.

    She was born September 26, 1916 in Vergennes, the daughter of Oscar and Margeruite (Langway) Stone.

    She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Vergennes. A store clerk at Ben Franklin Store for many years. She has resided in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA area for the past 12 years and was a member of the Ascension Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. She was a member of the Church’s Senior’s  ( Rainbow) Club.

    She is predeceased by her husband, Donald Joseph Danyow on November 25, 1967. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Sellers and son-in law Gerald Sellers of Norfolk, VA, her daughter Debra Durant and son-in-law Carl Durant of Ferrum, VA; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild,  four sisters; several nieces and nephews.

    A memorial service was held on Thursday May 28th at St. Peter Catholic Church in Vergennes. Interment will be in Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes. Friends may call at Brown - McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes on Wednesday May 27th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
