Jean F. Benjamin

Bristol-Jean F. Benjamin 80 passed away Monday May 18, 2009 at her home in Bristol surrounded by her family.

    She was born May 19, 1928 in Lisbon, NH the daughter of Dominic and Millie (Cotes) Fillian.

    She attended school in Woodsville, NH and graduated from Farmington High School in Farmington, CT. She married her husband Dewey Ray Benjamin on July 3, 1948. Her hobbies were square dancing, sewing, fishing, spending time with her family.

    Predeceased by her husband Dewey Benjamin on October 24, 1999.

    Jean is survived by two children Lynda and Robert Cobb of Waltham; James (Benji) and Kathleen Benjamin of Bristol; three granddaughters Angie and John Kennedy of Utah; Jennifer Kingsley and Jason of Vergennes; Rachel and John Connor of Vergennes; a great grandson Kyle Kingsley; a dear friend Jeannette and Richard Bedell of Bristol; a sister Ruth Fellows of CT; two sister in laws Sylvia Suydam of CT.; Ivis Masterson of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held  Friday May 22nd at Brown - McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Interment will be in Maple Cemetery in Lincoln. . In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753, or VT Association for the Blind, Burlington, VT.

Eleanor Margaret Turpin

Vergennes, VT / Hartford, CT-  Eleanor Margaret Turpin, 85, died Sunday May 17, 2009 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehab Center in Middlebury.

   She was born October 8, 1923 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Patrick and Margaret (Burr) Welch. She grew up in Hartford, CT attending Catholic schools and was employed at Colt's (during WWII), Arrow-Hart and Hegeman Electric Company, and also Veeder-Root until moving to Vermont in 1967.

   On December 21, 1968 Eleanor married Rene Joseph Turpin of Monkton at the Saint Peter's Catholic church of Vergennes.

  Eleanor loved to play Bingo and take care of children most of her life. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and person to all that knew her.

   She was predeceased by her husband in 1976, her sister Jean M. Welch of Hartford in 1931 and her brother Joseph R. Welch of W. Hartford in 1997.

   Eleanor is survived by a son Gordon of Vergennes, a sister Helen Godin of Windsor Locks, CT, a brother Edward Welch of W. Springfield, MA and many nieces and nephews.

  A sincere and special thank you to everyone at Helen Porter Health Care for the care and respect that Eleanor received throughout the last three years of her life.

  A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday May 29th at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Friends may call at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes on Thursday May 28th from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Helen Porter Nursing Home, 30 Porter Drive, Middlebury, VT 05753 or St Peter’s Catholic Church Restoration Fund, Vergennes, VT 05491.

Helen Alice (Rouille) Hunt

Vergennes-Helen Alice (Rouille) Hunt went home to Jesus on Sunday May 17, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. She died at home with her loving family by her side.

     She was born April 16, 1945 in Burlington, the daughter of the late Wilford and Daisy (Palmer) Rouille.

     Helen was a dedicated employee at Simmonds Precision/ BF Goodrich for twenty years, before her illness forced her into early retirement. She absolutely loved the warm sandy beaches of Maine and basking in the sunshine listening to the ocean waves. She was a hard worker and young spirit all around from her hobbies of crocheting, horse shoes, jet sking on Lake Champlain and gambling. She loved to be the life of the party.

     Predeceased by her late husband Robert Hunt Sr.

     Helen is survived by three daughters, Paula Jean Joyal and husband Steven of Vergennes, Annie Aruzza and her husband Michael of Winooski, Tina Carter and husband Bruce of Starksboro, ten grandchildren, one great grandson, loving companion and friend Newton (Johnny) Rose, step daughter Lauri (Hunt) Fallon of Panton, step son Robert Hunt Jr. of Middlebury, four step grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers, several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister and two brothers.

     Funeral services were on Friday May 22nd at Victory Baptist Church in Vergennes. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in West Addison.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 121 Connor Way, Williston, VT 05495.

Helen Frances Cyr

Penn Yan, NY/ Bristol VT-   Helen Cyr, 85, of Bristol VT and Penn Yan, NY passed away at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home on Saturday May 16, 2009 after a lengthy Illness.

    Helen was born, September 5, 1923, in Bristol, VT, the daughter of the late Alfred and Gertrude Hagan. She attended schools in Bristol, VT. On September 28, 1942 she married Andrew Cyr at St. Ambrose Church in Bristol, VT. They began their married lives in Bristol, later moving to the family farm in New Haven, VT, where they resided until 1957, when they returned to Bristol. She was employed and retired from Drake, Smith & Company in Bristol, VT. Her greatest loves were her family, her flowers, and her church.

    Helen is loved and will be missed by her six children, James (Penny) Cyr of Ferrisburg, VT, Janet (Robert) Edwards of Penn Yan, NY, Edward (Susan) Cyr of Shelburne, VT, Phillip Cyr of Bristol, VT, Yvonne (Donald) Habberfield of Penn Yan, NY, Patricia (Mark) Richardson, of Penn Yan, NY, 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law Alfreda and Osborne LaFrance of Bristol, VT, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

   She was pre-deceased by her husband Andrew, grandson Matthew Henries, granddaughter Jenna Jurgens, great-grandson William Jurgens, nephews, Osborne LaFrance Jr., William Nimblett, and Roger Nemblett, and a sister Gladys (Dasey) Hagen.    

     The family would like to express our thanks to Dr. Bell, and all her caregivers at the Penn Yan Manor, our special thanks and gratitude to you all.

     A mass of Christian burial will be held 12 noon on Saturday May 23, 2009 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 11 School St., Bristol, VT. Interment will be at Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home, 655 Liberty St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
