Rita E. Lane

Vergennes-Rita E. Lane, 78 passed away Friday February 20, 2009 at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington.

     She was born August 23, 1930 in Laconia, NH the daughter of Frank and Erma (Warren) Mastine.

    Predeceased by her husband Milton “Bud” Lane in 1986.

    Rita is survived by three children Donald and Linda Lane of Georgia, VT; Sandra Lane of Kansas City, Missouri; Betty and Randy Hawkins of Addison; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren.

   Services will be held privately in the spring.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 121 Connor Way, Williston, VT 05495, or American Heart Association, 12 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495.

BEATRICE E. BOOTH

WATERFORD/Vergennes – Beatrice Elizabeth Booth, 96, of 16 Sherman Street, New London, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2009 at Bayview Healthcare Center in Waterford surrounded by her family.

  She was born in Lincoln, Vermont on May 9, 1912, the daughter of Victor and Maude Liberty Duclos.  Beatrice was one of six children in the Town of Lincoln where her father was the Village Blacksmith.  She married her husband Ralph Field Booth August 18, 1940 in Waltham, Vermont.  They lived in Vergennes, Vermont where they owned and operated the Pinegriff Restaurant for 15 years while raising their four sons.  They relocated to New London, CT after selling the restaurant. 

   Beatrice was a classy woman who took great pride in keeping a beautiful home and giving her family many years of spectacular holidays, never to be forgotten.      

    She is survived by her sons, Ralph Booth, Jr. and wife Sandra of Bristol, VT, Courtney Booth and wife Barbara of Niantic, CT, Kevin Booth and wife Kathy of Waterford, CT, her grandchildren, Lisa DeMaio and husband Gino of New London, CT, Jeff Booth of Lincoln, VT, Holly Edmond and husband Eric of Plainfield, CT, Kelley Booth of Waterford, CT, Michelle Gada and husband Jamie of East Lyme, CT, Eric Booth of Old Lyme, CT, Erica O’Callaghan and husband Jason of  Wilmington, MA, Amy Booth of Cambridge, MA, her great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Justin Claspell who feel very blessed to have had the honor of having their great-grandmother live with them for 10 years, Marshall and Jake Gada and Ashley Edmond.  She is also survived by her brother Ronan and wife Rose of Shelburne, VT and her sister in law Norma Duclos of Middlebury, VT, and several nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by 3 very special ladies she has always considered her daughters, Judi Booth, Janie Czepizak and Donnan (Tessie) Fogg.  She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son, Geoffrey Booth, grandson, Jay Jefferson Booth, brothers, Paris “Bill” Duclos, Stanton “Sam” Duclos, Norbert “Nub” Duclos, her sister Thelma “Tootie” Sharrow.

   A funeral service was held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 85 South Maple Street in Vergennes, VT.

  The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Bayview Healthcare Center for the love and care they extended to Beatrice during her stay at Bayview.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham Street, Norwich, CT  06360 or hospicesect.org.   Hospice did an incredible job in making Beatrice’s final days with us a very peaceful experience.  

William Harris

Shoreham - William Harris, 83, died Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Fletcher Allen Healthcare, Burlington following a period of failing health.

    Born January 20, 1926 in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late Sidney and May (Moskowitz) Harris.

    Bill was a WWII veteran and taught classics at Middlebury College for 32 years prior to retirement.

    Family members include his wife, Min Harris of Shoreham; two sons, James Harris of Somerville, MA and John Harris of West Hartford, CT.

    Private funeral services will be conducted at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main St. Middlebury.  Spring burial will be at the Middlebury Cemetery.

    The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Shoreham First
Response,  P.O. Box 202, Shoreham, VT 05770.

Barbara D. Dragon

Middlebury - Barbara D. Dragon 88, died Saturday morning, February 21, 2009 at Helen Porter Health and Rehabilitation.

    Born in Salisbury September 28, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Nina (Rogers) Durant.

    Barbara was a graduate of Middlebury High School, class of 1938.

    She was employed at CVPS for thirty years, retiring in 1985.

    Survivors are two daughters, Linda D. Charron and her husband Dennis of East Middlebury and Sandra Stolarcyk and her husband Owen of East Middlebury; her four grandchildren, Stephen Stolarcyk, Sophia Stolarcyk, Michele Duncan and Joseph Charron.

    She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence C. Dragon who died February 1981, by her two brothers, Gordon and Earl Durant and by her sisters, Hazel Bishop, Mabel Dutton and Helen Silvia. Also by her two great-grandchildren, Justin Butler and Stephanie Barrett.

    There will be no calling hours or funeral services. She will be buried in Prospect Cemetery at a later date. 

    Memorial contributions may be made to the East Middlebury Methodist Church.

    Arrangements are under the direction of Sanderson Funeral Service, 117 South Main St., Middlebury.

Nathan Gallagher Rheaume-Fox

   Ferrisburgh - Nathan Gallagher Rheaume-Fox born January 25, 1993. On February 24, 2009 after a long courageous fight his body finally surrendered allowing him to go be with the lord.

   Nathan was a very strong, wonderful boy who was always full of smiles never letting anyone see how sick he really was. He beat the odds many times proving to many people that despite his physical limitations he was in control of his body right to the end.

   Nathan loved being with his family and friends. He loved music & "jamming out" especially to KISS. He also enjoyed watching bull riding & would show of his "riding" skills bringing laughter to us all!

   Over the years Nathan has touched many lives in the community. His family will be forever grateful to all the years of support and dedication from numerous agencies, Drs., Nurses, Teachers, Friends, community members who helped raise money in our time of need and Family who helped to make his life easier and loved him as much as we did. Special thanks to his nurses Amber and especially Jessie and her family who became such an important part of his family their care and love made him comfortable right to the end.

   Nathan leaves behind his parents Michelle Fox and David Aubin of Vergennes VT, His father Robert Rheaume, As well as his two sisters Kelsey and Hailey who he adored. Many grandparents Gareth and Kathy Fox, Ronald and Debbie Stearns, Connie Jackson, Tweet Thompson, and Shirley and Leon Aubin, many special Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was predeceased by his "Poppy" Mark Jackson who greeted him at Heavens gate.

   A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11a.m. on Monday March 2nd at St. Peter Catholic Church in Vergennes. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Make a Wish Foundation of America Gift Processing Center, PO Box 29119, Phoenix, Arizona 85038-9119.
