Sale of the Ben Franklin Building at 63 Main Street in Middlebury was completed on January 15, 2009. Larry Duffany, whose family has owned the property for 65 years, was the seller. The new owners are Chan Li, her husband Den Ho, and Chan’s brother Andy Li, all Middlebury residents.

The new owners will also purchase the Ben Franklin store business. This transaction will take place in March with Larry Duffany assisting with the transition.

Chan, and Den own My Kym Nails on Main Street in downtown Middlebury. Andy is an owner of China House on Seymour street in Middlebury. The new owners have retail experience and wanted to invest in the community. Chan said “this is a great opportunity. We plan on making some positive changes and adding staff members.”

Larry Duffany was quoted as saying  “The community has been very good to us. We supported it and they supported us, so it’s a two way street. I will miss

the interaction with the public. I am pleased the ownership is be transfered from our family to another family.”

Listing agent George Brewer said “It is a win, win, win situation for everyone.  It is great for the seller, buyers and the community.  There were other interested parties, but this was the best fit.”

George has been in the business 23 years. His Real Estate Company, Addison County Real Estate is located at 2337 Route 7 South in Middlebury.
George handles residential, commercial, and rentals.

The selling agent was Broker Bonnie Gridley of RE/Max Champlain Valley Properties on Court Street in Middlebury. Bonnie has 23 years experience in Real Estate, handling all aspects from residential, commercial, land, lake front and camps. Bonnie stated “We are very fortunate to have local Middlebury residents as buyers. “I am excited for them and hope the community will support their new business venture. I wish them the best”
