Veta M. Anderson

Ferrisburgh -  Veta M. Anderson, 89, of Ferrisburgh died October 27, 2008

    She was born in Weybridge, April 4, 1919 to George and Martha Olcott.  She married Nils A. Anderson July 18, 1939.  Veta was a loving mother, grandmother and life-long homemaker.

    She is survived by her eight children and their spouses; Nils W. and Jean Anderson of Ferrisburgh, Jeanette and Leslie Fuller of Ferrisburgh, Margaret and Rev. Roger Gaboriault of Florida, Carolyn Anderson of Middlebury, Elizabeth and Bernard Andrews of Addison, Marolyn Anderson of Ferrisburgh, Katherine and Walter Welch of Shoreham, and George Anderson of Ferrisburgh. Also survived by six grandchildren; Leslie Fuller, Dawn Anderson, Donovan Andrews, Joel and Rev. Jared Gaboriault, and Hannah Lackard; four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

    She was predeceased by her husband Nils A. Anderson in 1966, a grandson, Brian Andrews in 1981, and two brothers, Fletcher and Dominic Olcott.

    There will be no visiting hours.  A private family celebration of her life will be held in the Spring.  Contributions may be made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753. A special thanks for the care and support of our mother by the Visiting Nurses of ACHH & H.  Arrangements will be handled by Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes.

 

PHILLIP  HARDWAY, SR.

 

MIDDLEBURY - Phillip F. Hardway, 67 of Monarch Court, died Friday, October 24, 2008 at his home following a period of failing health.

    Born October 5, 1941 in Dailey, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Forest P. and Olive F. (Butcher) Hardway.  He attended school in Dailey in his earlier years and North Troy High School in Troy, VT.  In 1985 he graduated with his son, earning his adult diploma from Middlebury High School. 

    Phil honorably served in the United States Army and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.

    Initially he was employed at various jobs in Rutland.   He retired in 2003 after 24 years of service with Simmons Precision/ Goodrich of Vergennes.

    Phil was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Vergennes Eagles Club. 

    Family members include his wife of 45 years, Anna (Gilman) Hardway of Middlebury; one son, Phillip F. Hardway, Jr.  of Salisbury; two daughters, Tammy Willson and her husband Steve of East Middlebury and Helen Warner and her husband Bob of Ferrisburgh; two sisters, Jean O. Butcher of Richmond, VA and Bethel Fleming from Bethel, VT; two grandchildren, Jon Willson and Brianna Willson ; nieces and nephews. 

    He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Hardway and Bernard Hardway and one sister Grace White. 

    In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veteran’s or to the American Diabetes Association.
