Firefighters Respond To Barn Fire

   Salisbury firefighter sifts through debris at the scene of a barn fire in Salisbury on Aug. 19th. The blaze at the Nop Brothers and Sons cattle barn claimed the milking parlor but firefighters from six area departments saved the barn and 350 Holstein dairy cows.

Firefighters from six neighboring communities battled an intense blaze at Nop Brothers and Sons cattle barn just off Route 7 South of their main farm complex. The traffic on Route 7 near the fire scene was reduced to one lane while firefighters battled the blaze on  Tuesday, August 19th 2008 at around 2:35p.m.

   Salisbury firefighters prepare to extinguish the last remnants of a barn fire at The Nop Brothers & Sons cattle barn a short distance from the main dairy operation on Route 7, south of Middlebury on Tuesday, August 19th. Firefighters saved the large free-stall barn and 350 milking cows were safely moved from the barn to a nearby pasture. Firefighters from six area towns battled the blaze in gusty winds.
