Theresa L. (Cosmas) Jackman

    Theresa L. (Cosmas) Jackman, born December 12, 1951, passed away Saturday, July 19th, at home listening to the falls on the New Haven river in her backyard which she and Michael loved so much. Terri was born in Elizabeth, N. J. to Edward and Stephanie Cosmas. She was predeceased by her father and her brother Ed as well as her mother-in-law Jeanne Jackman and her Vermont "mom" Gussie Levarn.

   She is survived by her mother, her husband Michael and two stepsons, Jason and Mason and granddaughter Chastan. She also leaves brothers and sisters-in-law, Patty and Bob Kellogg, Alice and Al Renaud, Mary and Jim Sullivan, Tom and Arlene Jackman, John and Maureen Jackman and many nieces and nephews, her dearest friends Terry Booska and Sandi Murphy and many cousins and friends in New Jersey and her great neighbors in Brooksville.

   Terri was a self-made woman who moved to Vermont 30 years ago to help set up Vt. CPC in Middlebury. She owned and operated a business in Bristol before working at Middlebury College for 9 years. She was then recruited to the Vt. Folk Life Center for many years before returning to Middlebury College to work for the Career Services as coordinator. Terri also volunteered for 12 years for Addison County Hospice.

   As a very talented and creative artist Terri always preferred entertaining in her own home where her incredible cooking skills were enjoyed by many. As a caring and giving person, she designed and made quilts and teddy bears which are treasured by family and friends. Terri was always the first one to be there when someone was in need. She would cook for them, escort them to appointments or just hold their hand. She spearheaded many fund-raising events. Terri will be truly missed by many. As one niece said, "Aunt Terri made it all about everybody else. She was so graceful. Bless you and thank you, Aunt Terri

   Terri loved antiquing all over New England with Michael, her yearly shopping excursions with the "golden girls", and many trips to Quebec, Montreal and Mont Tremblant. Terri loved her home, her gardens, and her carriage house which she designed for an awesome Bed and Breakfast.

   Michael and family want to thank Dr. Armstrong, Dr. Nunnick and their staffs and Addison County Home Health for their skill and care.

   Donations in Terri's memory may be given to Vermont Center for Cancer Medicine. Terri found joy in everything she did, and her life will be celebrated at a later date. I love you and will miss you, Terri. Michael.

Reginald  A. Wedge Sr.

 

Starksboro - Reginald A. Wedge Sr., 81 of Starksboro succumbed to cancer on Sunday July 20, 2008 at home with his family by his side.

   He was born October 28, 1926 in Irasburg, the son of Earl and Nora (Kennison) Wedge.

   He served in the Navy during WWII.

   Reginald is survived by his wife of 58 yrs, Mary of Starksboro; his three children, Regina Pecor and husband Earl of Bristol; Reginald Jr. and his wife Colleen of Bristol, and Regan and his wife Laurie of East Middlebury; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services were held on Thursday July 24th at Starksboro 1st Baptist Church. Interment will be in Green Mount Cemetery in Starksboro..  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753, or Starksboro 1st Baptist Church, Starksboro, VT 05487.

HELEN STONE BALL

North Ferrisburgh – Helen Stone Ball, 85, died on July 21, 2008 at Pillsbury Manor South.

   Helen was born in Burlington on November 13, 1922, the daughter of Etta Plastridge and Jacob Stone. She married the love of her life, Harold W. Ball on September 23, 1946. Harold predeceased her in 1988. Her brother John K.Stone predeceased her in 1992.

   She is survived by her four children: Jennie and Anthony Feather of Yorkshire, England; Winston and Edna Ball of Shelburne; Thomas Ball of Starksboro; Sheldon Ball
and Nicole Seguljic of Starksboro; five lovely grandchildren, Emily, Claudia, Charlotte, Ruby, and Hugh, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She also leaves behind a very special friend and cousin, Pauline Fuller.

   Helen’s mother died when Helen was a baby. She was brought up by her Aunt Jennie Sorrell in her house in North Ferrisburgh Hollow, where Helen lived for 82 years.

   Helen graduated from Burlington High School in 1939. She was a nutrition aide for the University of Vermont Extension Program for many years, and worked with families in Addison County. She was well-known for her famous summer day camps in Ferrisburgh. She was a strong advocate for women, families, and the low-income.

  Helen was a refined and quiet person, but with a love for fun and good times. Her laughter could be heard coming from the middle of a group, and all envied her sunny disposition. She enjoyed music, dancing, birds, and gardening, and had a fondness for collecting angels and bells.

   Helen loved to travel, going on many exciting trips to England, Greece, Corfu, and the United Arab Emirates.

   She will be remembered for her huge heart and generosity.

   She was communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes. She was also member of American Legion Post #14 Auxiliary and North Ferrisburgh Homemaker’s Club.

   There was a mass of Christian burial at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes on July 25 with interment following at North Ferrisburgh Cemetery. Donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Ferrisburgh Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 25, North Ferrisburgh, VT 05473.

   The family would like to extend a deep heartfelt thank you to the staff and friends at Pillsbury Manor South, and a very special thanks to Patty Bergeron of Silver Leaf Home Health Care for the wonderful kindness and great care that was given to Mom. 

Raymond Ned Dow

 

New Haven - Raymond Ned Dow, 67 passed away Monday July 21, 2008 at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington.

    He was born July 18, 1941 in Windsor the son of Mervin and Emma Temple Dow.

    He worked on farms for many years. He lived with his niece Tracy Jerome where he enjoyed many pets especially his dog Mischief. He enjoyed spending time at the house on the back deck, swimming in the pool, socializing with senior citizens in Vergennes, and going to Victory Baptist Church on Sunday.

    Raymond is survived by his sister, Ruth Doxter of Vergennes; brother Kenneth Dow and wife Virginia of Hartland Four Corners, VT; six nieces; four nephews; many grand nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held on Saturday July 26th at Victory Baptist Church in Vergennes. Interment will be in Gage Cemetery in Ferrisburgh. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vergennes Senior Association, Attn. Betty Bristol 9 Short St. Vergennes, VT; Victory Baptist Church, Route 7 Waltham.
