Joyce Ladeau Usher

Bristol  - Joyce Ladeau Usher passed away at Living Well Nursing Home in Bristol on Monday June 30th, 2008. She was an Alzheimer patient there for several months.

   Joyce, in her early years, worked at Gays Express in Bellows Falls.  But, she decided to move to Windsor where Francis Usher was teaching at Windsor High School.  Before they left Bellows Falls, they got married at St. Charles Church.

   Joyce got a job at Cone Blanchard Machine Shop.  After a few years, the shop closed and Joyce went to work on the hot lunch program at Windsor High School.

   After several years, Joyce and Francis decided to move to Bristol, where she went to work at Autumn Harp.  Her willingness to work started when she played defense on the Bristol High girls’ basketball team, which won the State Championship in 1944.

   Joyce is survived by her husband Francis Usher; daughter Kimberly Usher of Lincoln; son Thomas Usher of Starksboro; brother Clayton Ladeau and wife Zelva of Bristol; brother Bruce Ladeau and wife Jeannie of Charlotte; many nieces and nephews, Brian Ladeau and wife Pam of Bristol, Bruce Robert Ladeau of MA, James Ladeau working in Japan, Curtis Ladeau of Burlington, Leslie Ladeau of Milton, Debbie Grayham of Bristol, Joy Granger of Essex, Mary Baker of Bristol, Lisa Cobb of Bristol, Linda Pierce of Alstead, NH, Bob Coates of Keene, NH, Betty Ouelette of Cambridge, NY, Cheryl Eddy of Mechanicsville, NY, Vickki White of Marlborough, NH, Donna King of Cambridge, VT, Erwin Devino of Milton, Lee Devino of Milton, Coleen Devino of Milton, and Caroline Collins of Westford.

   A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday July 8th at Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol. Friends may call at Brown- McClay Funeral Home in Bristol on Monday July 7th from 5 to 8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Living Well Community Care Home, 71 Maple St., Bristol, VT 05443.
