CAROLINE LEHN GIEGES

SALISBURY, VT-Caroline Katherine Lehn Gieges, 99, died peacefully at Shard Villa Nursing Home Thursday, June 5, 2008. She was born January 24, 1909 in Westport, Connecticut, the youngest of ten children to Edward and Caroline (Strock) Lehn.

   Caroline received her Bachelor's degree from Yale School of Nursing in 1933, the University's first class of nursing students. Her career included school nurse in Westport, Visiting Nurse with the CT Department of Public Health, and working with special needs students in Bridgeport and Danbury schools.

   She spent twenty years of her retirement in Shoreham overlooking Richville Pond. There she spent her days tending bees, caning chairs, baking, and hosting family and friends. She was an active member in the Historical Society and church groups; she attended the Shoreham Congregational Church as well as St Stephen's Episcopal Church in Middlebury.

   Caroline migrated between Vermont and Connecticut throughout her retirement. In 2001 she settled at Shard Villa, where she simultaneously endeared herself to and drove to distraction the staff and volunteers.
Caroline is survived by her granddaughter Katie, of Cornwall, and nieces and nephews in Connecticut. Caroline was predeceased by her two children and ex-husband.

   A gathering in Caroline's honor was held at Shard Villa on Saturday, June 21, 2-3pm. A memorial service will be held in Westport at Christ and Holy Trinity Church, followed by internment at Willowbrook Cemetery.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Residents' Activities Fund at Shard Villa, 1177 Shard Villa Rd, Salisbury, VT 05769.

Leona M. Robinson

Lincoln-Leona M. Robinson, 72 passed away Thursday June 12, 2008 at her home in Lincoln after a long illness.

   She was born August 26, 1935 in New Haven the daughter of Clarence and Mildred (Varney) French.

   She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #19 in Bristol, and Goodrich Quarter Century Club in Vergennes. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, and crafts.

   Leona is survived by her husband of 53 years, William S. Robinson of Lincoln; six children, Lee Diesi and husband Jerry of Bristol; Kim and husband Randy Crowell; Coogie and husband Doug Baker; Mitzy and Art Baker; Peter and Angel Robinson, all of Las Vegas, Nevada; Bill and Deb Robinson of New Haven; 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; a sister Donna Noble of New Haven; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a half brother Arthur Tubbs.

   The family would like to thank all friends, neighbors, and caregivers.

   Funeral services were held on June 16th at United Church of Lincoln. Interment will be in Maple Cemetery in Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.
