On April 26th, 2008 Jutta Miska of Weybridge VT was awarded a 2008 Governor's Service Award for Outstanding Volunteer Community Service in recognition of her tireless dedication to Addison Central Teens. Emily Joselson, Helen Freismuth and Anna Tract co-nominated Jutta for this award. Jutta has been working to establish a teen center, and teen programming, in Addison County for the past 20 years.  Jutta played a central role in establishing early teen center efforts prior to the successful founding of 94Main, ACT's drop-in space, in September 2007.

In nomination her for this year's award, Emily wrote, “If it hadn't been for Jutta, more likely than not there would not be a vibrant, active and wholly successful teen center in Middlebury, serving hundreds of teens in the ACSU school district”. To quote Anna Tract,”Jutta has constantly given 150% of her time and energy.  She is always willing to help out, and she truly cares about us teens”.

Jutta herself had this to say after hearing she had been awarded,” I'm very honored to receive a 2008 Governor's Award for Outstanding Community Service and wish to thank Emily Joselson, Helen Freismuth and Anna Tracht very much for nominating me. Yes, it has been a longtime dream of mine to open a teen center in the ACSU district, but I could NOT have done this without the help, ideas, energy, active and countless hours of commitment, and the tremendous support and encouraging words of all the wonderful people involved with ACT (Addison Central Teens). Not to mention being at the right time at the right meeting and meeting the right people. It definitely was the time for the ACSU community to come together and make our Teen Center happen. The teen support and the community support are incredible and "94 Main" truly is a team/ community effort!!! Thank you to all.”

Kendra Dempewolff, a teen member of Addison Central Teens, was awarded a bronze Youth Service Award from the United Way on May 7th.  Kendra received this award based on her volunteer efforts on behalf of ACT.  Kendra was instrumental in transforming the basement room 94Main calls home into the space it is today. Kendra dedicated her summer vacation to repainting furniture, painting walls and overseeing other teen volunteers. Thanks to her efforts, 94Main is a vibrant space that attracts teens from all over the ACSU district.
