Local Healthcare Organizations Team Up To Conduct Benefit Raffle

Tuesday March 25, 2008

Addison County Home Health and Hospice (ACHHH) and Hospice Volunteer Services (HVS) are local  non-profit, independent organizations working together to serve Addison County residents in need of home health and hospice care. They have recently joined forces to put together an exciting community-driven fund raiser to support their programs and services to local residents in need.

This collaboration, their first major fund raising partnership, is a benefit raffle of a Caribbean Cruise Getaway for Two. The winner will receive a 7-day, Royal Caribbean Cruise for two including air and ground transportation to the port of departure. The winner can choose from a full menu of Caribbean destinations. Along with Accent Travel, the winner can plan an unforgettable vacation getaway.

The local healthcare providers have a goal of selling 800 tickets by March 29th. The tickets cost $25 each and can be purchased at various locations around the county including Hospice Volunteer Services in the Marble Works District, the Middlebury Inn, Greg's Market, Addison County Home Health and Hospice, Sweet Charity in Vergennes, and Art on Main in Bristol.

Your ticket will not only provide you with the chance to fulfill a dream, but it will admit you, free of charge, to a Wine and Cheese reception at the newly renovated Middlebury Inn on Saturday, March 29th when the raffle drawing will take place. So take a chance and buy a ticket! Your purchase will benefit 2 worthwhile non-profit organizations in town that depend on community support to provide their high quality programs and services.

ACHHH and HVS provide clinical and practical support to individuals in need without regard for their ability to pay. In 2007, Addison County Home Health and Hospice (celebrating its 40th anniversary this year,) made 72,000 visits to patients in Addison County with the help of 180 employees. Hospice volunteers made 1,123 visits, donated 2,374 hours of care, drove 24,367 miles all of which translated to greater than $40,000 in savings to the healthcare system last year. Hospice Volunteer Services (celebrating its 25th anniversary this year) provides emotional and practical support to our community members facing the end of life with 1 full-time, 3 part-time employees and over 100 volunteers.

ACHHH and HVS are grateful to the many local businesses that are sponsoring this important fund raiser by underwriting advertising costs.
