Terry “Ox” Oosterman took this great shot of a Barred Owl this past month near his home in Ferrisburgh. Barred Owls are nocturnal creatures for the most part but they are often seen in their habitat usually during times of low light and on cloudy days. The Barred is a remarkable hunter and its special inner eyelid acts as a kind of sun shield on brighter sunny days.
