Middlebury Police Chief Tom Hanley told reporters on Friday morning February 15, that the physical search and the missing person investigation into the disappearance of Middlebury College Freshman Nicholas Garza is continuing and quelled rumors that the 19 year old Albuquerque N.M. resident has been found or that a body was discovered in Middlebury's downtown area on Thursday.  Several unsubstantiated stories to that effect had been circulated around town, all of them incorrect according to authorities.

The Chief indicated that now with classes back in session at the College, police will have an opportunity to interview more students that might shed some light on Garza's whereabouts.  “We are all baffled and we are continuing to interview students who  knew him,” the chief explained.  The physical search so far and as of press time has turned up nothing.  Nicholas Garza has been missing since he was last seen at a social gathering on campus around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5th according to police.  He left the gathering and has not been seen or hear from since.  Police are asking citizens with any information that might help in this case to call MPD at 388-3191.
