richard ‘dick’ alan bennett

Brandon - Richard “Dick” Alan Bennett, age 68 passed away Wednesday January 16, 2008 at Helen Porter Health and Rehabilitation in Middlebury.
   Richard was born in Rochester, NH February 21, 1939 the son of Russell Wilbur Bennett and Laurella (Pecor) Bennett.

   Mr. Bennett was a graduate of Hudson, High School, Hudson, MA Class of 1956. On February 9, 1963 he was married to Sarah (Sally) Walker at the Westborough, MA Baptist Church. Richard worked in Accounting and Finance at Raytheon Corporation in Wayland, MA.and Portsmouth, RI.

   In 1969 he moved to Brandon from Warren, Rhode Island. Richard worked at Simmonds Precision, Vergennes in Accounting and Finance for 35 years. He received his Degree in Business from UVM in 1981. He retired in 2004.  Richard was a member of the Brandon Congregational Church where he was a member of the Diaconate.

   Richard was an avid Red Sox Fan and enjoyed golf. Richard enjoyed attending Red Sox Spring Training in Fort Myers, FL each spring for many years. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball and was a member of the Otter Valley Booster Club.  Richard was a member of the New England Brittney Rescue and was a board member at the time of his death. Richard also loved flower gardening. He was a member of the Brandon-Forestdale Lions Club for many years.

   Richard is survived by his wife Sarah of Brandon, his four children, Allison Pouliot and her husband Mark of Monkton; Russell Bennett of Los Angles, CA, David Bennett and his wife Libby of Windsor, VT.  ; Daniel Bennett and his wife Jane of Lincolnville, ME. One brother, Michael Bennett of  Sun City, CA. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ashlie and Adam Pouliot, Kaeli and Nicholas Bennett,  and several nieces and nephews.

   The Memorial Service in celebration of Richard’s life was held on Monday January 21st at the Brandon Congregational Church.  The Rev. Richard White, Pastor officiated. Private interment will take place at a later date.

   Memorial Contributions in Richard’s Memory may be made to New England Brittany Rescue, Inc. to the attention of Bonnie Paiva, 829 Mill St. Marion, MA 02738 or to the charity of one’s choice.

   Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller and Ketcham Funeral Home, Brandon. VT

Bertil Algot Anderson

Brandon - Bertil Algot Anderson, age 83, died Monday, January 14, 2008 at Rutland Regional Medical Center, Vermont.

    Mr. Anderson was born in Mount Vernon, New York on April 5, 1924, the son of Swedish born parents Algot and Svea Anderson.  He was a pilot serving in the rank of Lieutenant in the Air Force during World War II.  He was married to his beloved wife, Annabelle for 58 years prior to her death in 2004.  Bert and Annabelle retired to Brandon, Vermont in 1988 where he was involved as an amateur radio operator and enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes.  Prior to retirement, he was a Master Carpenter, owning and operating Algot Anderson Co. in White Plains, New York.

    He was known to all his friends and family as a wise, honest, loving, kind, caring gentleman, always willing to lend a hand or an ear.  He is survived by three sons, Robert Anderson of Charlestown, Rhode Island, Michael Anderson of Killington, Vermont and Richard Anderson of Brandon, Vermont, brother Ronald in Maryland and sister Ruth in Tennessee.  He also had a twin brother Frank, who predeceased him.

     A private memorial service will be held in Brandon.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home, Brandon.

James F. Litch

 

Addison— James (Jim) Frederick Litch, 70, passed away Friday Jan. 18, 2008 at Fletcher Allen Hospital after a long illness.

    He was born June 18, 1937 in Burlington the son of Floyd and Helen (Bigelow) Litch.

    He lived in Addison for the past 50 years. Jim owned and operated his farm along with his wife and children for 31 years. After developing health problems they sold the farm and Jim went on to work in a stone quarry for 13 years driving truck until he was forced to retire for good because of health problems. Jim loved to hunt and fish, play golf with his son, son in laws, brother in laws, and friends. He loved to draw and read, but most of all he loved to spend time with family and friends. Jim is a charter member of the St. Peters Knight of Columbus, and a member of the Vergennes Eagles Club. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be truly missed by everyone.

    Jim is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Gisele (Vanier) Litch of Addison; 4 children, Jeannine and her husband Wayne Partridge of Orwell, VT; Jacques and his wife Janis Litch of Addison, VT; Jackie and her husband Dan Flynn of Addison, VT; Terry and her husband Joe Anthony of Austin, TX; ten grandchildren, Jamie Litch and her friend Neil Warner, Jennifer Litch and her friend Eric Besaw, Heather Wood and her husband Leslie, Ashley and Michelle Partridge, Lauren and Denise Anthony, and Daniel, Adam and Samantha Flynn; one great-granddaughter Jordan Wood; two sisters, Jean Withington and her husband Eugene of West Rutland, VT, Brenda Jaring and her husband Bill of Richford, VT; two brother in laws, Bernard Vanier and his wife Fleur Ange of Moriah, NY, Serge Vanier and his wife Nancy of Cornwall, VT; one sister in law, Gislaine (GIGI) Uzzell and her husband William of Colchester, VT; several nieces, nephews, cousins and lifetime friends.   

    He was predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Helen (Bigelow) Litch; father and mother in law, Albert and Simone Vanier; and one brother Timothy Litch.   

    The family would like to give a special thanks to William (Skip) Roberts for many months of devoted driving Jim home from dialysis.

     A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Monday January 21st at St. Peter Catholic Church in Vergennes. Interment will be in Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes. Friends may call at Brown McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes on Sunday January 20th from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Addison County Home Health, PO Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753 or Vergennes Area Rescue, PO Box 11, Vergennes, VT 05491 or the American Heart Association, 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
