   L-R:  Governor Jim Douglas addresses firefighters...Training Officer Randy Stearns hands Bruce Putnam of the Addison VFD a training award for hours of training completed during the past year.  Training is a key for firefighter performance and many of the ACFA members complete impressive numbers of hours in continuing fire education training...members of the Color Guard retire the colors but not before Middlebury College, the Middlebury American Legion and Middlebury Lions Club each were recognized and presented with awards for their outstanding cooperation and contributions to this years Vermont State Fire Fighters Convention held in Middlebury and hosted by the ACFA.  Next year’s convention will be held in Rutland.  2007 ACFA Life Members were also named and they are:  David Trueman, Ferrisburgh; Larry Provost, Middlebury; Paul Meader, Monkton; Paul Bolduc, New Haven; John Palmer, New Haven; Ray Daniels, New Haven; Ken Sawyer, New Haven; Charles Thibault, Starksboro; Jim Breur, Vergennes; Bill Brown, Vergennes, and John Dugan, Vergennes.

   The Addison County Firefighters Association held their annual dinner and awards banquet on Wednesday evening, January 16th, 2008 at the Eagles Club in Ferrisburgh.  The firefighters who represented all of the counties 17-towns were thanked for their service by Governor Jim Douglas.  “For your service to our communities and our safety, we thank you,” the Governor said in brief remarks before the awards ceremony began.
