Retrograde Planets In 2008

    As I have done for the last few years, I have compiled a list of the planet as they move through their various retrograde (appearing to move backward) cycles during the year.

    Mercury has three retrograde cycles this year. The first runs from January 28th through February 18th, remaining in the sign of Aquarius; the second from May 26th through June 19th in the sign of Gemini, and the third cycle from September 24th until October 15th, this time in Libra. It is interesting to note that all three cycles take place in air signs, so clear thinking will be the most affected.

    Venus is the next planet and the good news is that it has no retrograde cycle in 2008, putting a positive spin on emotions. Mars was retrograde in Cancer as the year began, turning direct in Gemini on January 30th. Jupiter is in Capricorn all year, heading backward on May 9th and returning to forward motion on September 8th. Saturn was retrograde in Virgo as the year opened, turning direct on May 2nd.

    Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, has its annual retrograde cycle from June 26th to November 26th and it is in Pisces all year. Neptune, the ruler of Pisces, spins backward from May 26th to October 26th and is in Aquarius all year. Pluto begins its backward dance in Capricorn on April 2nd and turns around in Sagittarius on September 8th, causing its own special brand of confusion. Remember that when planets are retrograde, it gives us a chance to look at the other side of whatever is happening so when they turn direct again, we are better informed than we were.
