Letter To The Editor

Greetings animal lovers!

Well, as the new Executive Director, I hate to begin my relationship with each of you by asking for money, but we really need your help.  As you are aware, we recently acquired four horses due to a heartbreaking case of neglect.  I’m pleased to say that the rescued horses are recovering well and gaining weight and the sharp edges of their protruding bones are beginning to soften.  They have a new light in their eyes--The resilience of animals that have suffered so much never ceases to amaze me.

At this point, we’re estimating the cost to feed and rehabilitate these animals will be in the neighborhood of $3500. The adult horses are each eating over a bale of hay per day and loads of Blue Seal Vintage Senior and the vet bills are beginning to mount up.  Unfortunately, as of this date we have only received two monetary donations for this situation.  We would really appreciate any help that you could provide.

While it is the intention of our foster homes to cover as much of this as they can, ACHS REALLY needs your support to cover the rest. Because these types of situations are impossible to predict, funding for these types of animal-related emergencies is not part of our regular budget, which I assure you is stretched just to meet our day-to-day needs here at the shelter. When emergencies arise, we count on the generosity of animal lovers in our community to cover expenses. Any sized gift would be greatly appreciated!

If you can help these horses, please send a donation to:
