Arthur Wallace Clapper

Vergennes - Arthur Wallace Clapper of Vergennes died Monday October 22nd at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

   Bud was born in Bristol, VT on October 20, 1921 eldest son of Wallace & Mae (Weiss) Clapper who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by a brother Donald Clapper and two sisters; Ruth Sorrell and Marion McGuire as well as his wife Bernice Douglass Clapper.

   Bud served in the US Army in WWII where he was in the Battle of the Bulge.

   He leaves a brother Charles Clapper of Dover Plains, NY; two sisters, Ethel (Toots) Lonergan of Buchanon, NY; Margaret (Maggie) Tidd of Bellows Falls, VT. He also leaves many nieces and nephews as well as his very dear friends Rick and Maggie Cloutier and family of Vergennes.

    He was a member of the American Legion Post # 14 in Vergennes, Eagle Club in Vergennes, and VFW in Middlebury. He worked for Simmond Precision Products for many years.

   There were calling hours on Thursday October 25th at Brown McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes,  A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday November 3rd at Brown McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery in Vergennes. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Legion Post #14 Vergennes, VT 05491, or Addison County Home Health & Hospice PO Box 754 Middlebury, VT 05753.
