Swamp Road Covered Bridge Restoration Underway
Tuesday October 23, 2007 By Mike Cameron The covered bridge spanning Otter Creek connecting West Salisbury and Cornwall is undergoing a major restoration project. Swamp road will be closed while the work continues. The project will continue until August of 08. Work is under the direction of Alpine Construction Co. of Schuylerville New York. Alpine is going to “replace worn out wood flooring, siding and support beams,” during the next year of restoration construction according to company officials. Alpine will be using materials and methods that will restore the venerable old crossing to its original condition thus preserving a beautiful section of Addison County transportation history.
