You can make a lot of friends in 43 years. Ask Middlebury Business woman Theo Lowell.

Theo opened her beauty shop on November 1, 1965 and named it the Lady Fair. It was a wise decision

Formerly O’Briens, The Lady Fair has become a landmark for customer loyalty and life-long friends.

It’s interesting to note that the name of the business came about as the result of a customer contest.

Theo explained that she wanted customer input right from the start and it has proven to be an excellent idea and a popular name.

Recently Theo decided to step away from The Lady Fair and lease the business to Lincy Sullivan of Bristol. Lincy is an experienced professional and is enthusiastic about being the new operator. She will be renaming the business Alexandra, after her seven year old daughter. It’s a win, win situation according to both parties.

The Lady Fair has a unique and interesting history. The first beautician, Bernadette Howland was with the salon for decades before her retirement.

The first customer back in 1965 is still a regular customer today.

Not one for fan-fair, Theo is matter of fact about the transaction. she is, however, adamant about the many customers who have also become regulars at Lady Fair and would like to thank them all. “The coffee pot is always on,” she says with a smile.

Lincy also extends a warm welcome to everyone, Alexandra will serve women, men, children and teens. College students are also cordially invited. The transition has begun and both women expect it to go smoothly.

Also to be working for Lincy is Cathy Blaise who used to have her own shop in Weybridge. She will be working on Wednesdays and Fridays.

The phone # will remain the same.  802-388-2557
