Carol Anne Place

Addison - Carol Anne Place, age 56, of Addison, VT, died Wednesday, Sept 19, 2007 after battling breast cancer for seven years. She was born in Mt. Kisco., NY, daughter of Everett and Helen (Hauser) Hopkins. She married Edward Place in New York on May 31, 1.975.

    Carol was an active member of the Vergennes Congregational Church as Deacon, Sunday school teacher and other positions. She was an avid gardener and spent many long hours in her flower beds around her home; she also enjoyed camping, kayaking, and quilting with friends. She made many quilts for her family and friends.

    She is survived by her husband, Ed, her children, Jeff Place and Carrie Place; two brothers, Steven Hopkins and James Hopkins; Mother Helen Hopkins and several aunts and cousins.

    A funeral service were held Monday, Sept 24th in the Vergennes Congregational Church, Vergennes, VT at 2:00 pm.

    Memorial donations may be made to Addison County Home Health and Hospice or to Vermont Cancer Center.

Sylvia E. Bradford

Ferrisburgh -  Sylvia E. Bradford, 80, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

    She was born on December 15, 1926 in Hinesburg the daughter of Charles and Caroline (Benedict) Emmons.

    Sylvia was a member of the Vergennes American Legion Auxiliary Post 14 for 37 years.

    Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Chester Bradford in 1988 and Grandson Joel Russett in 2001.

    She is survived by two sons, Charles Bradford Sr. of Bridport, Eugene Bradford of Ferrisburgh, five grandchildren Charles Bradford Jr. and Bill Bradford both of Addison, Gretchen Russett of Addison, Gene Bradford of Vergennes, Kevin Bradford of Shoreham, 12 Great Grandchildren, brother Herbert Emmons of NH, Sister Mary Sear of Rutland, several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held Monday Sept 24 at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Interment was in Shelburne Village Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Addison County Home Health and Hospice, Middlebury 05753.

Alice Mae Parent

Bristol- Alice Mae Parent, 98, passed away in the loving care of Judy and Jarry Hill Friday, September 21, 2007 in Monkton where she’d resided for over two years.

   She was born in Bristol December 11, 1908 one of twins to John and Addie (Hurlburt) McKinnon. She, her brother and sister were raised in Bristol by their Grandparents, having lost their mother when the twins were one year old.

   Alice moved to Richmond in 1925 where she met and married Alfred E. Parent July 16, 1927 and where they raised their family. She was an active member of the Richmond Congregational Church, its women’s group the Friendly Class working on and supporting many church suppers, and the Vermont Extension Services Richmond Home Demonstration group. Her husband predeceased her September 23,1963.

   She moved to Bristol in 1979 where she made many friends, was a member of the Bristol Afternoon Homemakers Group and thoroughly enjoyed many trips to her favorite destination Nova Scotia

   Alice is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Adelaide and Harley Shepard of Fletcher, NC. Donna and Larry Gile of  Bristol, Seven  grandsons, Michael, Gary, David, Steven, Timothy Shepard, Carl and Neil Gile, Eleven great grandchildren, one great great grandson, and many nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her sister Grace Smith Jan, 28, 1985 and her twin brother Sam McKinnon Sept. 11, 2005.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday Sept 27th at 11 a.m. at the Bristol Federated Church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol. Friends may call at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. For those desiring, contributions may be made to Bristol Rescue Squad, Bristol 05443.

Rowena E. (Crane) Cyr

Bristol- Rowena E. (Crane) Cyr 86 went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday September 22, 2007 at her home in Bristol.

   She was born October 16, 1920 in McIndoe Falls, Vermont the daughter of Royal and Rita (Forbes) Crane.

   She was a member of Valley Bible Church in East Middlebury and she was employed at Porter Medical Center for many years.

   Predeceased by her husband Francis Cyr in 1977.

   Rowena is survived by four children, Francis Cyr of South Carolina; Sandra Bristol of Middlebury; Debra Mongillo of Kennebunk, Maine; Noreen Rotax of Bristol; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister Rachael Stone of Bridport; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a granddaughter Michelle Lambert, and a sister Ramona Forbes.

   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday September 27th at Valley Bible Church in East Middlebury. Interment will be in Case Street Cemetery in Middlebury. There will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions maybe made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.

Robert (Bob) I. Bodington

Bridgeport, CT - Robert (Bob) I. Bodington, 85, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

    He was born on May 27, 1922 in Pittsfield, MA the son of Fred and Clara (Dearsley) Bodington.

    Bob is survived by six children, Paul and Stacie Bodington, Laurie and Scott LaFountain, Judith and Larry Marcelle, Jeffrey Bodington, Janice Bodington, Joseph Bodington, 15 grandchildren, Elyzabeth, Ashlie, Chris, Karlee, Garron, Nicole, Melinda, Mathew, Shawn, Brandon, Kayla, Kyle, Trent, Richard, Jack.

    Funeral services will be held Tuesday Sept. 25 at 11 a.m. at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol, VT. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol, VT. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc.
