Ronald David Piper
Vergennes - Loving Father and friend Ron Piper, 52, of Vergennes died unexpectedly September, 9, 2007 at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury Vermont. Ron was born on March, 17, 1955, in Middlebury to loving parents Rodney and Dorothy Piper of Bridport.
Ron graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1972 and spent two summers with the U.S. Coast Guard on Lake Champlain, while attending Champlain College and also serving as a police officer for the city of Vergennes. He graduated from Champlain College in 1974 with an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement and served with the South Burlington Police Department for the remainder of his life. During his long career of police work Ron also worked as a security guard, as well as working as the Deputy Game Warden for the Department of Fish and Wildlife of Vermont under Bob McKnight. He also served as Crew Chief for the Vergennes Rescue Squad. Ron loved to spend time with friends and family, and was a proud member of the Eagles Club, as well as taking motorcycle trips to Americade whenever he had the opportunity.
Ron is survived by his two sons, Nicholas Piper and Ryan Piper, as well as his parents Rodney and Dorothy Piper. He also leaves behind five loving siblings, Dennis Piper, Kenneth Piper, Diana Roy, Marilyn Allen, and Elaine Paquette. He also had many nieces and nephews that will miss his sense of humor and love of life. He also leaves behind a very close and good friend Mara Opra of Vergennes. Ron was predeceased by his loving wife and soulmate Sandra Piper in 2003.
The wake took place on Thursday September 13th at Brown McClay Funeral Hom. The funeral was on Friday September 14 at St. Peter’s Church in Vergennes. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad PO Box 11 Vergennes, VT 05491.
Dom G. Orlandi
Monkton - Dom G. Orlandi, 71 passed away on Tuesday September 11, 2007 at his lakefront home in West Addison.
He was born March 7, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of Maria Orlandi and Victor Tosto.
He was avid animal lover. He raised Appaloosa Horses. He was a breeder of Bassett Hounds under the Tops Field Prefix. He owned Morgan Horses. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and racing cars.
Dom is survived by his wife of 29 years, Claudia Orlandi, four children, Donna Maria, Dom Giacoma, Mia, and Dom Guido; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Clifton, Alexandra, Madison, and Quinn. Predeceased by a son Edo.
A memorial service was held on Saturday September 15th at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.
