Grace L. Claflin

North Ferrisburg-Grace L. Claflin, 77 died Wednesday August 22, 2007 at her home in North Ferrisburg surrounded by her family.

   She was born January 5, 1930 in Monkton the daughter of Frederick and Maude Catchapaw Lawrence.

   She was a lifetime member of North Ferrisburg United Methodist Church, Charlotte Grange, and Eastern Star.

   Predeceased by her husband Sidney E. Claflin Jr. on July 1, 1974.

            Grace is survived by five children, Elizabeth Claflin Wheeler and husband John of Wilmington; Lela Claflin Sisk and husband Ray of Hope, Maine; Barbara C. Claflin of North Ferrisburg; Dawn Claflin Ridolfo and husband J. Chris of Burlington; Sidney E. Claflin III of North Ferrisburg; predeceased by a son William (Billy) Claflin in 1985; seven grandchildren, Nancy, Will, Hilary, Hannah, Joshua, Josid, Jesse; predeceased by a granddaughter Jessica; two great grandchildren, Arianna, and Ethan; a brother in law Nelson Claflin and his wife Doris of Charlotte; several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Sunday August 26th at North Ferrisburg United Methodist Church. Interment will be in North Ferrisburg Cemetery. . In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to William Claflin Scholarship Fund, Vergennes FFA Chapter, Attn. Harmon Boise, Vergennes Union High School, Monkton Road, Vergennes, VT 05491.

Joan Jordan Glidden

Ft. Myers, Florida- Joan Jordan Glidden, 91 died peacefully Saturday August 18, 2007 at Amy Rochon Care Home in Bristol surrounded by her family.

   She was born November 23, 1915 in Brockton, Mass. the daughter of Albert and Constance Felstead Jordan.

   She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes.

   She was predeceased by her husband Herbert Glidden Jr. in 1988.

   Joan is survived by two children, Richard Glidden and Rita of Cornwall; Herbert Glidden III and Terry of Addison; seven grandchildren, Carolyn, Michael, Herbert IV and  Melita Glidden,  Mathew and  Laura Glidden, Peter, Timothy, and Joe Glidden; two great grandchildren, Alexis and David Glidden; a sister, Connie Burgess of Plymouth, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.

   A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Tuesday August 21st at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Cornwall. There will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vergennes Area Rescue Squad PO Box 11 Vergennes, VT 05491. Brown McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes will be in charge of arrangements.
