Robert E. Marshall, Sr

Panton - Robert E. Marshall, Sr., 74, of Panton, VT went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 20 , 2007 after a short illness.

    Bob was born July 14, 1933 in Middletown, CT. son of the late George Marshall and Myrtle (Carpenter) Marshall.

    Upon graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country with loyalty and valor during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Bronze Star for bravery; as well as other ribbons.

    Before beginning his 22 year career with IBM in Burlington, VT, Robert worked for Pratt-Whitney Aircraft in Hartford, CT.

    Bob was an active member of the Panton Community Baptist Church. He fulfilled a life long dream of skydiving at the age of 62.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Geraldine "Deeny" Marshall and his sister, Judy Wilson of Middletown, CT. Also by his children: Joanie Marshall of Vergennes and her two daughters, Nancy Marshall Husk of Vergennes and her two sons, David Marshall and his wife Jackie of Gobles, MI and their 9 children, Christopher Marshall of  Ferrisburg and his two children, three granddaughters by his eldest son Robert Marshall Jr. who pre-deceased his dad in 1984, and his widow Susan Marshall Smith and her husband Bill of Bellefonte, PA. In addition to his 18 grandchildren he has one great-granddaughter.

    He was honored by his country for his service, and he will always be honored by his grandchildren for having been the greatest Grampa ever.

    Bob was also predeceased by his brother George Marshall.
 A funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 25th at the Panton Community Baptist Church followed by burial at Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes, VT.
