Attorneys who have volunteer their time serving as Acting Judges in Addison County Small Claims Court received Certificates of Appreciation during a brief ceremony and reception at the Judge Frank Mahady Courthouse in Middlebury on Friday, June 8th, 2007.

In a related note, as of July 1st of 2007, plaintiffs may file claims up to $5,000 under the new rules of Small Claims Procedures.  Under the old rules, damages not exceeding $3,500 could be claimed for relief in Small Claims Court.

Court officials stress the importance of Attorney Volunteers as an outstanding community resource, providing the public with decades of legal experience and skill necessary for equitable decisions in Small Claims Court without charging a fee for their services.
