Brooke Connor is one of 10 young women from around the state who will be competing for the title of Miss Vermont’s Outstanding Teen 2007.  The pageant takes place on Saturday, May 5, at the Enosburg Falls Opera House.

Connor is a freshman at Middlebury Union High School.  Her scholastic ambition is to teach history at the collegiate level.  She will be singing “Prayer” in the talent portion of the competition and has chosen “Healthy Lifestyle Choices and Self Esteem Building for Teens” as her platform.  A contestant’s platform is a cause or issue that she believes in and is passionate about.  The platform is the focal point of her year of service.

Connor states:  “The Miss Vermont’s Outstanding Teen program grants a teenager the unique ability to have the chance to visit and impact the lives of many teens across the state and region.  I would take advantage of this opportunity to spread information and encouragement about healthy lifestyle choices, community involvement, and the message that one voice and one set of hands can and does make a difference in the lives of a family, a community, and a state.”

The mission of the Miss Vermont organization is to promote personal and professional development, civic consciousness, service, higher education, and integrity. The organization is lead by three previous Miss Vermont titleholders, all of whom are native Vermonters.  To learn how you can become a contestant, volunteer, support the Miss Vermont Scholarship Organization, or book an appearance with Miss Vermont or Miss Vermont’s Outstanding Teen, visit www.missvermont.org.

As the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women and one of the nation's leading achievement programs, The Miss America Organization, and its state and local organizations, last year made available more than $45 million in cash and tuition scholarship assistance.  Additional information about the Miss America Organization can be found at www.MissAmerica.org.
