A fast moving fire whipped by strong northerly winds destroyed a dairy barn and attached buildings at the Richard Quinville farm in New Haven on Thursday afternoon April 19th.  Fire crews and first responders when called to the scene on Rt. 7, Ethan Allen Highway found the main barn fully engulfed in flames and strong winds threatening to spread the fire to near by homes.  Firefighters from New Haven, Bristol, Ferrisburgh, Weybridge and Vergennes battled the blaze keeping it contained to the main barn and attached sheds.  No livestock was in the barn at the time of the fire.  One firefighter was reportedly burned on his neck while fighting the blaze.  No other injuries were reported.  The buildings burned to the ground.  Several silos remained standing. The fire reportedly began when a cutting torch used to remove some old cow stanchions ignited the fire.
