Adrienne Jean Devino

WEST ADDISON - Adrienne Jean Devino, 18 died unexpectedly Saturday March 31, 2007 at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, NH.

   AJ was born July 11, 1988 in Middlebury, VT the daughter of Edward Jr and Linda (Farley) Devino.

   She graduated from Vergennes Union High School in June of 2006 and was actively involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, Girls State, Yearbook, Class President for 3 years, Mentoring Program, Soccer, Softball, and Addison Central School Basketball Coach.

   AJ had many interests in photography, music, spending time with friends, hunting with her dad, and making the entire world smile.

   For the past year she attended Northeastern University in Boston. AJ was on the Deans List as a Communications Major. She belonged to many clubs such as Resident Student Association as well as involved in many student activities.

   AJ is survived by her parents, Edward Jr. and Linda Devino; a brother, Edward Devino III; two sisters Brittany and Cassie Devino all of Addison; grandparents Jean Devino and Harry Jones of Addison; Roger and Linda Farley of South Burlington, Marie and Frank DiNapoli of Niverville, NY twenty aunts and uncles, twenty four cousins, large extended family and a bazillion friends.

   Funeral services were held on Thursday April 5th at Vergennes Union High School. A scholarship fund will be established in AJ’s memory, contributions may be sent to Attn. Angie Dykema Vergennes Union High School Monkton, VT 05491.

Dennis Steven Roberts

MONKTON - Dennis Steven Roberts, 88 passed away peacefully Sunday April 1, 2007 at home on Wendellwood Farm in Monkton. He had resided primarily there since the death of his wife Emma with friends Wendell and Doris Brace.

   He was born February 14, 1919 in Dorset, VT the son of Steven and Maude (Bovey) Roberts.

   Dennis served in World War II in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946 from Fort Devin’s MA.

   Dennis is known for his love of trapping, fishing, hunting, and bird watching. He was a member of the NRA, and the Trappers Association. He will be remembered for his love and talent of making baking powder biscuits and ginger cookies.

   His faith and trust in Jesus Christ and his belief assured those who knew him that he would see us in heaven, someday.

   Dennis and Emma were married on November 14, 1963 in Dorset, VT. Predeceased by his loving wife, Emma Streeter-Payne-Roberts of 21 years, Dennis, son of Steven and Maude Roberts, of Dorset, VT also predeceased.

   Dennis is survived by a very large loving family, Kim Cole of MO, the Christmans, Butlers, Braces, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

   Many thanks and appreciation to those caring friends, family, and staff of Fletcher Allen, VNA and Addison County Home Health.

   Funeral services were held on Thursday April 5th at Victory Baptist Church in Vergennes. A graveside service was held on Thursday April 5th at Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset, VT  Brown McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes was in charge of arrangements.

DORIS STEADY MITCHELL

BRANDON - Doris Steady Mitchell passed away at Porter Nursing Home on April 3rd, 2007, after a fall at her home in Brandon in early March.

   She was born in Monkton 81 years ago, the first of 8 children. She played a significant role in raising her brothers and sisters during the depression years.

   Doris is survived by two sons, Calvin and Robert Trudo, two grandsons, one great-grand daughter and one great-grand son, two brothers, Charles Steady and James Steady, three sisters, Vera Gilbert, Sylvia Soulia, and Lavina Kimball, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and a special sister-in-law, Theresa Mitchell.

   She was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert Mitchell, and her parents, Leo and Grace Steady, two brothers, William and Sheldon Steady, and one sister, Elizabeth Champine.

   Doris worked many places over the years and retired from Goodrich to a long and happy retirement in Brandon. She continued her close relationship with her family and was always very proud of them.

   Calling hours will be on Monday, 4/9/07 at the Brown-McClay Funeral home in Vergennes from 7 PM until 9 PM. She will be interred on Tuesday, 4/10/07 at 11AM in  the Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven.
We will miss her.

ALICE JOYCE (NEWTON) BOUVIER

BRISTOL — Alice Joyce (Newton) Bouvier, 84, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2007 surrounded by her loving family, after a long courageous fight with dementia. Alice was born at home in South Lincoln, Vermont on January 18, 1923. Her parents were the late Hobart and Gladys (Piper) Newton.

   Alice was a 1941 graduate of Bristol High School. She traveled to Albany, Georgia to marry the love of her life, Lt. James A. Bouvier, on August 21, 1943 during his aviation training, and shortly before Jim's departure for duty in the European Theater. Together, Alice and Jim raised 9 children in the town of Bristol. She worked at Drake & Smith, Van Raalte, and the Standard Register Company. Alice was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Community, the Catholic Women's Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 19. Following Jim's death, she remained an active member of the 384th Bomb Group. participating in numerous reunions throughout the United States and Grafton-Underwood, England.

   Alice's many gifts were her gentle spirit, her kindness to everyone she met, her love of all children, and her ability to see the good in every living thing. Her strong faith sustained her through many difficult times. Her hobby of creating handmade teddy bears brought her much happiness. She took great joy in donating her "Bouv" bears to many different causes, including survivors of the Oklahoma City bombing. She was one of Mt. Abraham's most loyal fans, following her grandchildren's participation in athletics, plays, and musical performances.

   Her husband Jim predeceased Alice in 1991 as did two sons, Eric in 1992 and Jeffrey in 2005.  Alice was also predeceased by her parents, a sister Arlene Greene, and a brother, Keith Newton. Her 3 daughters, 4 sons, 21grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews survive her. Her daughters and their families are: Connie LaRose and her husband, Ron and sons Kevin and Brett, Michelle Cousino and her husband, Rod, and their children Christopher, Gregory, and Katherine, and Colleen Wedge and her husband, Reg, and their children Rebecca, Casey, and Eric. Her sons and their families include: Mark and Deborah Bouvier and their children Jaime, Nathan, and Andrew; Peter and Tina Bouvier and their children Kati and Ryan; James (Buzz) and Wanda Bouvier and their children Sarah, Justin, Cullen, and Matthew, and Joel and Starr Bouvier and their daughters Tasha and Megan. Alice also leaves her daughter-in-law, Laura Bouvier, and her children Jennifer and Timothy. She especially enjoyed her great grandchildren, Emma and Koby LaRose, Benjamin and Madeline Cousino, Maizy and Remi Shepard, and Celia, Olivia, Katherine, and Sarah Heath. She would be pleased to know that her family will continue to grow as there are 3 more great grandchildren arriving this year. She also leaves sisters-in-law Ann Roscoe and Maggie Bouvier, and a brother-in-law, Emile Ethier.   Alice's family would like to extend special thanks to Kirk and Linda Roscoe for the compassion and tender care given to our mother during her stay with them.. Donations in Alice's memory may be made to the Addison County Humane Society, Boardman Street, Middlebury, Vermont or St. Ambrose Parish, 11 School Street, Bristol, Vermont.

   A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Bristol on  April 4th.
