Dewey E. White

PANTON/COLCHESTER - Dewey E. White, age 69, of Colchester, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007, peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was in the care of his loving wife and best friend Joyce, and daughter-in-law Susan Duclos.

    He was born in Panton, VT, October 29, 1937 and was the son of Warren White and Bessie Fish White.

     He worked for the City of Burlington Cemetery Department for more than 25 years. Dewey was a hard worker, honest man who loved country music, dancing, singing, and playing music.  He could play all types of musical instruments, but he was especially known for playing his fiddle.  He enjoyed entertaining his family and friends with his talent.

     Dewey looked forward to going ice fishing every winter.  He knew the lake like the back of his hand, and where to catch perch and smelt.

     He spent many summers camping in Grand Isle, and loved to be near Lake Champlain, spending time with family and friends.

     He loved to go for long rides in the country and shopping in old country stores.

     He will be remembered for his gentle demeanor, smile, humor and his kind heart.

     Dewey is survived by his wife Joyce White, his brother Harmon White of Middlebury, and his sister Kathleen Brown of Burlington, his five step-children, Roger Duclos and wife Susan of Connecticut, Michael Duclos and his wife Lise of Alabama, Wayne Duclos of Oregon, Mary Zarella and her husband Pete of Massachusetts, and Brenda Ryan of Alabama and his 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

     Dewey was predeceased by two brothers, Erwin and Floyd White, one sister Blanche Bushee and step-son Mark Duclos.

     The family would like to Especially thank his physicians, the Visiting Nurse Association, and the Hospice of the Champlain Valley staff and volunteer for their exceptional care they gave Dewey and the support they gave to his wife.  Special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Rubman, Dr. Chris Terrien and Dr. Marc Greenblatt.  Joyce would like to thank all the family, friends, and Neighbors who assisted her during Dewey's illness.  "Words cannot express my gratitude".

     Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 in the LaVigne Funeral Home.  Interment followed  in Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Champlain Valley, 1110 Prim Rd., Colchester, VT 05446.   

Mary McDonough Landry

RUTLAND - Mary McDonough Landry, 86, of Rutland died February 5, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

   She was born in Rutland, the daughter of Michael and Margaret (McLaughlin) McDonough.  She received her education in local parochial schools and earned a BS Degree from Trinity College.  She earned a masters Degree in Education from Castleton College and did graduate studies at the University of Vermont.

   For twenty-two years she taught at West Rutland High School and Middlebury Union High School before moving to Florida where she taught in parochial and public schools.  Upon returning to Rutland, she became a Foster Grandparent and served at Mount Saint Joseph Academy for many years.  She is a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma and was a counselor at Green Mountain Girls State for several years.

   Between teaching positions, Mrs. Landry was a private secretary to a former Governor of Vermont and a former commissioner of Public Safety.  She also held the position of office manager of the Vermont Petroleum Association and was Vice Chair for the Addison County Democratic Committee and served as secretary on the State Finance Committee.  Mrs. Landry enjoyed oil painting and restoring statues.  She authored several short stories and poems and received a President’s Award for Literature.

   She was a communicant of Christ the King Church and a member of the Liturgy Committee in Middlebury and Rutland, having attended Liturgy workshops held at Trinity College.  She served as Extraordinary Minister and Lector in West Palm Beach and in Rutland.  Mary enjoyed her dog, “Sassy”.

   Mrs. Landry is survived by a nephew, Michael McDonough and his wife Sandy of Bennington, a niece Mary Jane Brislin and her husband James of Granville, NY, a great-nephew, Mark Brislin and his wife Robyn of Derry, NH.

   She was pre-deceased by her parents and three brothers, Reverend Francis McDonough of Rutland and Florida, Joseph McDonough of Bennington and Bernard McDonough of Rutland.

   Funeral services were held February 8th at Christ the King Church in Rutland.  Officiating was Rev. Thomas V. Matteson, associate Pastor.  Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to Christ the King Church, 66 South Main St., Rutland, VT 05701.

Susan Ellen  Farnham

Dover New Jersey-Susan Ellen Farnham, 50 died Tuesday February 27, 2007 at her home in Dover, New Jersey.
     She was born October 30, 1956 in Urbana, Illinois the daughter of Earl and Susan Wright Farnham.
     Susan is survived by her father Earl M. Farnham of Bristol; a sister, Linda Lunna and her husband Al of Bristol; and a niece Kimberly Sue Lunna of Bristol.
     Predeceased by her mother Susan Wright Farnham in 1975  Funeral services will be private.
Anne I. Schroedersecker
Middlebury- Anne I. Schroedersecker, 73 died Thursday March 1, 2007 at her home in Middlebury.
    She was born January 9, 1934 in Morristown, New Jersey the daughter of  John and Anna (Helm) Bahr.
     She enjoyed doing artwork, interior decorating, traditional German dancing, and   annual trips to Cape Cod with her close girl friends, specially the year she spent living in Cape Cod which was a dream come true.
    Anne is survived by five children, Karl P. Schroedersecker and his wife Julie of Andover, NJ.; Andree’ M. Carlson and partner Peter Cook of Middlebury, VT ; Heide E. Hannabass and her husband Dan of  Gambrills, MD; Blaise A. Schroedersecker and his wife Sharon of Burlinton, VT.; Anneliese M. Carbone and her husband John of Japan; eight grandchildren, Irena Hagan, Joseph Hagan, Erika Revell, Robert Carlson, Sarah, Alex, Oskar, and Alice Schroedersecker; two great granddaughters, Lilah and Riley Cunningham; a brother, Peter J. Bahr and his wife Anna of Andover, NJ; several nieces and nephews.
    A memorial service will be held in the spring in New Jersey.
