   The Vergennes Commodores defeated the BFA St. Albans Bobwhites in what began as a very close game. In the first quarter, both teams played tough defense, both offenses had difficulty landing shots. The first quarter ended 9-7, Commodores. In the second quarter, Vergennes began to increase their lead, but only slightly. The half finished out 18-12, Vergennes. In the third quarter, the Bobwhites began to close the gap once more, bringing the teams within two points. The third quarter ended 22-20, Vergennes. In the fourth quarter, the Commodores picked up the pace and ended up ahead of St. Albans.

    The final score was 40-27, Commodores. High scorer for Vergennes was junior Jesse Lalumiere with seventeen points. For St. Albans it was Lance Boylan with thirteen points. Before the game, Vergennes was presented with the Mona Garone Outstanding Sportsmanship Award. Each year, the officials rank every school’s players, coaches and fans on their sportsmanship. A recipient is chosen from the northern portion of the state, and one from the south. Vergennes was awarded with this honor for last year’s sportsmanlike conduct.
